At Monday night's School Board meeting, the Board accepted the retirement notices of Alf Jacobson (Middle/High School Custodian) and Sandy Weitzel (Middle School Instructional Assistant). #PointerNation is grateful for your 17 and 27 years touching the lives of our children!

The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation's Wisconsin Ag in the Classroom Program offers an annual essay contest for 4th and 5th grade students. This year’s essay contest topic was, ‘What’s Popping in Wisconsin? The value of corn to our economy!’ 4th and 5th graders from around the county submitted essays showcasing the value of corn in Wisconsin and in our daily lives. This year, we are excited to announce that 4th grader Kinley Swenson has been selected as the Iowa County Essay Winner for this contest! Her essay now moves on to the district level where she will be judged against eight others. Congratulations, Kinley!

#PointerNation and Cuba City teamed up to strikeout cancer! We are thrilled to announce that again this year our #PointerNation social media was honored with a SocialSchool4EDU Best of Social Media Award! Last year, our District Facebook Page won the Standout Facebook Award, and this year, our Pointer Media was honored with the Student All-Star Award! Fantastic job by The Blue Crew! Mineral Point was just one of 15 districts in the country, and one of two in Wisconsin, recognized for its social media efforts this year. We couldn't have the success online we have without you! Thank you to the FEP Group (Family Education Partnership) for helping to organize a Tunnel of Appreciation for elementary staff! The students love this annual tradition!

Creativity was running wild at the 5th Grade Volume Zoo! Students used math, science, art, and teamwork skills to craft their zoos and show them off to younger grade levels. 1st graders are in the beginning stages of their school garden! They will be planting a ‘spaghetti garden' including herbs, oregano, and basil.

Our high school leadership class has made some more recent trips to visit their friends at the elementary, including helping students make Mother's Day cards the other week!

Our high school students participated in sitting yoga after their recent community service day (they were a bit tired for standing poses), led by Mrs. Gundlach to support Mental Health Month!

Our #PointerNation Boys Basketball team recently gathered to celebrate another very successful season, including a conference championship! Kudos to all the award winners:
