Wolf Watcher's Program
Trailside Middle School PTA
Wolf Watchers Program:
● In support of the school’s safety and security efforts, the Wolf Watchers (parent volunteers in yellow vests) will station themselves on the paths leading to the school to help to ensure that our kids arrive and depart safely.
● Students know that the adults in the yellow vests are Wolf Watchers and are there should they need any help.
Volunteer Guidelines:
● No need to sign up to stand watch. Just pick a day and time that works for you. o Monday-Friday
▪ Arrival: 8:10-8:30am
▪ Dismissal: 3:20-3:45pm
● We have identified 2 primary “watch” spots. Please see the map on page 2 for exact locations. If there are several volunteers available on any given day/time, there are 3 secondary locations where you can also stand watch. The secondary locations are noted on the map on page 3.
● Wear a yellow vest while standing watch. You can pick one up in the front office. Please put your name on the sign-out sheet in the box so we can keep track of who has a vest. If you plan to volunteer on a regular basis, you do not need to
return the vest each time. Please return the vest when you are done. ● “See something, Say something”
o Please share any concerns with the administration and the School Resource Officer (SRO) immediately.

Student ID Cards
All students received a lanyard and plastic case for their student ID. If they have lost their ID, we will have a printer in the main office beginning this week, to reprint their ID on plastic.
A large benefit of the ID card is the increase of efficiency in the cafe lines!
Winter Warmth Coat Drive November 22-December 10th
Just six to ten miles from where we live, there are hundreds of young children going to school without a coat. The children do not have winter warm coats to keep them warm during the cold, brisk Winter months. For the past four years, TMS has partnered with Guilford Elementary school in pairing every child with either a new or gently used coat for the Winter. Please consider donating this year. We are accepting winter coats/jackets from toddler to adult medium. Please drop them off at the boxes/containers in front of the school.
We will be collecting donations from November 22nd through December 10th. All items donated will be new, gently used, and clean. We will be requesting adult, youth, and children's sizes. If you need a letter for tax purposes and donation, please email Colleen.Carlin@lcps.org
We are hoping to match our donation of 300 jackets from last year. Please consider donating if you are in the position to do so.
MAKING AN IMPACK AT THE TRAIL--ALTRUISM--FOOD DRIVE --SCA

- canned fruits and vegetables
- canned or bagged beans
- canned soups and microwavable cups of soup
- peanut butter and jelly
- pasta and sauce
- rice
- any spices
- chicken and beef broth
- mac and cheese
- snack items
- granola bars
- cereal

- canned chicken breast and tuna fish
Ronald McDonald House Pop Tab Collection: Supported by the Student Council Association
The Ronald McDonald House Charities has had a longstanding program of collecting the pop tabs off of canned items, such as beverage cans, canned fruits/vegetables, canned soups, and canned pet foods, which they then recycle. The proceeds are used to support programs to ease the hardship of childhood illness on both children and their families. Pop tabs are easy to collect and store and are less messy than collecting entire cans. Oddly enough, there is more concentrated aluminum in the pop tabs than in the cans themselves (weird, but true!), so the charity can receive more money for something a lot smaller!
Please help us to collect the little pull tabs that we typically recycle or throw away. They are so valuable to the guest families at the Ronald McDonald Houses. This is an ongoing service project and Pop Tab Donation locations are in front of each house office. Holiday get-togethers are a great time to start collecting for us! We thank you in advance!
Green Team News
Did you know bottle caps can’t be recycled?
The Green Team, partnered with the PTA and Art Department, are collecting bottle caps. All the way through May (we need lots of them), we will have tubs in the cafeteria. The grade level who collects the most will win a Grade Level Party!
Our wonderful Art Department will then create a TMS Mural for all to enjoy. Be on the lookout for voting on what design you would like them to create.
What a great first week of collecting bottle caps! Howl out to 7th Grade, currently in the lead.
