English Classes for Parents/Guardians
We will offer English classes for parents/guardians on Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings beginning in January. Please sign up here if you are interested and able to commit to attending each class. Please select only Wednesdays or Saturdays. Space is limited. You will be contacted whether or not we have space for you in the class.

Parent Portal and Parent Vue App issues

Volunteers Needed

Our 6th and 8th graders will be visiting the Junior Achievement Discovery Center in the spring and we are looking for volunteers who can help with the event.
"If you are not familiar already, Junior Achievement of Georgia provides authentic learning experiences for youth that focus on career readiness and financial literacy. 6th and 8th grade students will visit the JA Discovery Center (on the dates listed below) as a capstone experience to what they have learned in the classroom. Volunteers help the programming come to life, and they provide a day-of training, lunch, coffee, and parking for all volunteers." Click here to register to volunteer.

iSUCCESS is an excellent way to provide additional academic assistance for your student. The iSUCCESS program will have two main areas of focus:
1. Work Session to complete missing assignments
2. Alternate assignments to build academic knowledge

Operation Graduation Resources

Operation Graduation is one of Gwinnett County Public Schools’ family engagement initiatives that equip parents with tools while providing families opportunities to learn about college, career, and other post-secondary options. The first session featured a virtual presentation of the district’s Career and Technical Education Department. The session was held on November 3rd from 5:30-6:30 pm. Families may view the recorded information at the Gwinnett County Public Schools Webpage at the following link: Operation Graduation.

The GCPS Family-School Partnership Advisory Council (PAC)

The PAC is one of Gwinnett County Public Schools’ family engagement opportunities empowering parents to lend input on several topics related to the district’s federal and special programs. The council meets three times a year (fall, winter, and spring). The fall meeting was held on November 1st, with subsequent meetings to follow on January 24th, and March 23rd. Families may view the recorded information, at a time that best fits their schedule, on the Federal Programs page embedded within the GCPS website.

We are excited to be selected as recipients of the McDonald's Golden Grant. Lilburn Middle School was awarded $1,000, which we will use to improve art education in our Visual Arts class. The LMS Grant Writing Team, along with our art teacher, Ms. Finamore, would like to take the time to thank our phenomenal community partners at McDonald's for supporting our fine arts program.

PTSA Reflections Arts Contest
Congratulations to Edgar Tizol Margos for his 2nd place entry in the District PTA Reflections Contest and to Jazlyn Brooks for her winning entry. Her artwork will now be entered in the state competition. Click here for pictures from the awards ceremony two Sundays ago.

Congratulations to our Robotics Team that won two trophies yesterday at the First Lego League Regionals at Mountain View High School.

The “Energy Ambassadors” students, led by Ms. Allen and Ms. Byrd, won trophies in two categories: “Best Core Values” and “Best Robot Performance".

Now they have to wait few days for the official results to find out they will be advancing to the Super Regionals.

The Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology is a unique high school that focuses on advanced and challenging studies in the fields of engineering, biosciences, and emerging technologies. Enrollment for the 9th grade class is open to all 8th grade students who are residents of the Gwinnett County school district attendance zone; who are successfully promoted to 9th grade by the end of spring semester, 2023; and who successfully complete an 8th grade math curriculum that is a full unit of Carnegie-eligible Accelerated Algebra I or higher. Students in Carnegie-eligible Algebra I will need to achieve a 1st semester grade of 90% or higher – AND – 1) earn a Milestones (EOC) score in the Distinguished category (minimum scaled score of 92) OR 2) earn a score of 550 or higher on the math portion of the PSAT 8/9 or SAT (test must be taken no later than January 20, 2023). GSMST is now accepting registration applications for the 2023-2024 freshman class. The registration deadline is January 20, 2023. The GSMST lottery registration window opened on November 1, 2022, and it will remain open until January 20, 2023.
Parent meeting dates are 11/15/22, 12/1/22, and 1/10/23 with all meetings held in-person at GSMST at 7:00 PM. Please note the cluster meeting dates below. Additional details and documents are available on their school website.

Registration is open for K.I.D.S. Club and STEAM Workshop sessions being held Saturday, January 14 at Georgia Tech.

K.I.D.S. Club is open to students in grades 2 through 5. Topics for 2nd and 3rd graders this session are architecture, "TinkerLab" and 3-D art storytelling. For students in grades 4 and 5, there are two tracks to choose from. One track will study water safety and computer animation with Scratch; the other will learn about DNA and build racers.

STEAM Workshops are for students in grades 6 through 12. For grades 6 to 8, track one will learn about bacteria and biodegradable plastics; track two will spend the full three hours learning about gardening in the time of climate change. Grades 9 through 12 will use 3-D modeling to design a sustainable home.

Cost to attend is $65 per student. Need-based scholarships, funded by the Georgia Department of Education, are available. Visit the CEISMC BOOST Scholarship page to learn more about scholarship eligibility and submit an application.
