Senior Trip

Our seniors get the opportunity to travel to Sioux Falls for a day of fun as a class on May 11. While in Sioux Falls, the students will head to SkyZone, an Escape Room, have lunch at Falls Park and enjoy a meal and drive some golf balls at Great Shots to end the evening.

Awards Day

Our high school awards day ceremony is Friday, May 20th at 8:30 AM in the Blue Gym. This is an annual event highlighting the accomplishments of our senior class with the announcement of thousands of dollars in scholarship money to help the students as they start their career paths in postsecondary education. Our middle school awards program will take place at the end of the day on May 20th. Look for event invites on social media, as well as instant alert info. for reminders on both awards programs.

Graduation

The capstone for our students and the highlight of 12+years of education - our commencement ceremony will take place Friday, May 27 at 7:00 PM in our Blue Gym. Our graduation is a wonderful event honoring our graduating seniors and all they have grown into as young adults. We hope you can join us! Additionally, look for special senior highlights for each graduating senior on social media during the month of May.

Wings Soccer Starting Fall 2022

MSHSL Soccer is becoming a reality for Windom students! Windom will pair with St. James Area Schools to field boys & girls soccer beginning with the fall 2022 season. The soccer pairing will play under the "Wings" mascot. Due to space, Windom participants will bus to St. James for practices and games. We are excited to offer this opportunity and cannot wait to see our students compete this coming fall.

2022-2023 Schedules

Student schedules for the 22-23 school year will be completed in early May and we will begin working through schedule changes at that time. If your student intends to attend PSEO courses (either online or on a campus) while in high school, you must let our district know by May 30. Please contact Mrs. Squires at jsquires@isd177.com if you would like more information about PSEO. We will be offering 37 concurrent college credits taught by our teachers in our high school during the 22-23 school year.

1-1 Technology Change for 22-23

Our middle and high school students will be transitioning to a new piece of 1-1 technology starting with the 22-23 school year - Chromebooks will replace iPads for our MSHS students. Chromebooks are essentially a scaled down version of a laptop. Most of the course related technology used in classes is web-based, so there will not be a large shift in student experience between iPads and the new Chromebooks. As a Google Suite school, our students and staff will have a seamless transition for emails, docs, etc. Schoology will continue to serve as our main LMS for all course materials. Students will receive their Chromebooks the first week of the 22-23 school year.

College & Career Fair - May 13

Windom Schools, along with the Private Industry Council is joining forces to hold a College & Career Fair on Friday, May 13. Over 25 employers and 6 postsecondary institutions will offer opportunities for our students to learn more about what careers might be available in their preferred career pathway. 7-12 grade students will each have 30+ minutes to attend the college and career fair and learn about the opportunities in our community. We will be working with students during homeroom so they are prepared to have engaging conversations during their time with the employers and schools. Looking for summer work? Over 10 employers are staying an hour after the main event to hold interviews and fill summer openings. If you are an employer and you want to attend the flyer has information for signing up.

6th Grade Field Trip

On May 10th our 6th graders will be headed along the route of the MN Dakota War of 1862. 6th grade studies this time of conflict in our state's history and the students will. head up to the Lower Sioux Agency, Fort Ridgely, New Ulm, St. Peter and end at Reconciliation Park in Mankato, the site of the December 26, 1862 mass execution of 38 Native Americans. Along the route, our students will continue to learn about the history of the time period.

7th Grade Field Trip

On May 18th our 7th graders will head to the MN Zoo and the MN Capitol. Our 7th grade learns about basic biology in science class as well as the origins of American government in social studies. In previous years, the capitol trip was a 6th grade trip, we are hoping to move the capitol trip to 7th grade annually to make way for the 6th grade MN history trip. The chance to tour the capitol is an annual highlight for our MS students.

8th Grade Field Trip

On May 25th our 8th graders will head to Valleyfair as a reward for positive behavior to close out the school year, and Middle School. While at Valleyfair, students will have the opportunity to learn a bit about the physics of the rides, as well as having the opportunity to spend time with friends enjoying an awesome time at Valleyfair!
