Congratulations to the Cast & Crew of Manor of Death
Message from the Principal
Dear Woodside HS Community:
I wish all our Woodside High School students, families and staff a joy-filled Thanksgiving Holiday starting Wednesday, November 23. This holiday break, I hope that you can slow down, reset, visit the coast and find many opportunities to laugh and share a word of gratitude. The opportunity to spend time as a family is critical to student well-being. Please check out the research-based flyer above from Challenge Success which is associated with Stanford University's Graduate School of Education offering tips on Play Time, Down Time and Family Time essential to a teen's development.
Save the Date: November 29th, Woodside and Safe Space are collaborating to bring an essential conversation to our campus. Safe Space is a youth-led organization empowering students to talk about mental health, offer services, and support students. Woodside has several students on SafeSpace's Youth Action Board.
You can check out their website: safespace.org. All are welcome! See you there!
A Fall Sports Recap will be included in a special mid-week newsletter!
With Gratitude,
Karen van Putten, Principal and Terra, the dog

Students and Parents: Take Advantage of ALL the Supports at WHS
This is a critical time for our students to take advantage of ALL the many ways to stay on top of their academics and their learning. Are you:
- Using Tutorials fully and effectively?
- Using the DEN after school to receive tutoring from teachers (MUR with snacks!)
- Using Quiet Study in the Library to get work finished?
- Using the on-line FREE Paper tutoring service?
- Using CANVAS effectively, planning and managing your time?
- Using the College and Career Counseling Center for questions about college applications, scholarships and all things college-related?
- Using the Mental Health resources available for all students in F14?
- Using the bilingual resources available to you from Mr. Stewart or Mrs. Lopez?
If you answered NO to any of the above, it's time for you to take some proactive actions to make positive changes to help yourself. If you don't know where to start, stop by your school counselor or administrator or ask any one of your teachers to get help.

FOOD DRIVE
Since the start of the pandemic, the need for food has skyrocketed. Second Harvest of Silicon Valley is now serving 450,000 people on average every month, an 80% increase over pre-pandemic levels.
The Woodside High School Student Leadership Program has joined with Second Harvest of Silicon Valley. Community support has been vital to Second Harvest’s ability to meet the dramatic increase in need — helping those in our community is what Woodside High School’s fundraiser is all about.
Donations to Second Harvest help provide hope and security to families across Silicon Valley who are still recovering from the financial devastation caused by the pandemic. Every $1 raised helps provide enough food for 2 meals.
Will you join us in helping provide food to our community?
Please donate using this secure link: https://impact.shfb.org/team/456208
The online fundraiser has been extended. Please help us reach our goal by donating.
FOR SENIORS
Attention senior families. Now is the time to take care of some important senior aspects. There is a lot to manage between senior portraits, ordering graduation announcements and reserving the cap and gown. Be sure to check the grade level canvas page for the most up to date information as well as the WHS website.
Want to create a special page to honor a senior and have it included in every yearbook? Create a Senior Ad. This page will live forever and is a wonderful way to remember your student’s friends and time at WHS.
People can design the ad online and create a special memory.
Cost is: Full Page $225, Half Page $125, Quarter Page $75
Pictures have to be school-appropriate. If there is anything not school-appropriate your page will not be used or changes will be made prior to printing. Ads must be reserved by January 31, 2023.

Good news just in–matching funds have become available!
A committed group of donors has offered to match every gift made to the WHS Robotics Boosters before November 30, 2022 up to a total of $5,000.
The WHS Robotics Program emphasizes active outreach to students of all backgrounds and encourages engagement and teamwork in pursuit of a STEM education. Any interested student can join and learn to build a robot, as well as the skills necessary to run a small business.
WHS Robotics is a remarkable program, but also an expensive one. This year, we need to raise $47,000. We depend on financial support from businesses, team families and friends, and the local community to fuel our passion for robotics. Right now, you can double the power of your donation so it goes twice as far to support the team.
Donations of any size are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. We hope we can count on you to help nurture the innovators of tomorrow.
Please use this link to contribute.
Thank you for your support.
