Hello Starling Families,

It is hard to believe that we have already finished the first month of school! It has been rewarding and exciting to witness our amazing students grasp learning at such high levels. The smiles on their faces every morning are great to see. I hope that you have also been able to smile at how positive our year started. Your children's achievements are a source of pride for us all.

Last Monday, I had the pleasure of meeting many of you at Culver's Night. It was heartwarming to see such a fantastic turnout. These spirit nights are a great way to celebrate our school and connect with others. I want to express my sincere gratitude to the PTA for organizing these events for our community. Your efforts are truly appreciated.

September is a busy month, so please continue to stay close to our website, calendar, and parent square. I enjoy seeing our staff communicate with you and send pictures of class events. Their dedication to keeping you informed and involved is unwavering. Thanks for your patience as they navigate the new app and platform.

I am happy to say, that we are bringing a Chess club to our school! Please register below for this opportunity for your students. This club will be held on Mondays from 3:00-4:00 PM.

This Wednesday, I will be celebrating my 50th birthday and traveling. I am so excited to celebrate this milestone and to return ready to lead and be inspired by our staff and students. I will be out of the building this week and will return on Monday, September 9th. My amazing assistant, Tammy Cross, and assistant principals will be able to support you with any needs.

What are After-School Enrichment Clubs?

• Starling After-School Enrichment Clubs are after-school enrichment learning experiences hosted on campus at Starling from 3:00-4:00pm one day per week during an eight-week period. Teachers facilitate the clubs based on the AKS. Different clubs are offered for different grade ranges. The clubs that we are hosting for the Fall 2024 Session are Art, Crafting Literacy, Cupcake, Dance, Dollars and $ense Financial Literacy for Kids, Games, Improv Comedy for Kids, Lego, Model Makers and Marble Runs, Podcast, Starling Cheer, Strategy/Logic Games, Volleyball. When are clubs held?

• Clubs are typically held each Wednesday excluding days right before breaks or on early release. September 18, September 25, October 2, October 16, October 30, November 6, November 13, November 20

How do I sign my child up?

• Students' families pay a $40 fee per student and register online through MYPAYMENTSPLUS. Online club registration opens September 4th at 8pm and closes September 8th at 8pm.

Can my child be a part of more than one club?

• No, please register your child for only ONE club. All after school enrichment clubs are held at the same time and on the same day.

I logged into the portal to sign my child up, but can’t find the specific club my child wants. What should I do?

• Unfortunately, if a club is no longer appearing in the portal, that means the club you are looking for is full. We have limited spots for our clubs and sometimes they fill up very quickly. Try asking your child if they have a second favorite choice that they may want to sign up for.

In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, we will be having a culture dress up day on September 16th! We are also inviting parents and community members to come read to our students on Monday September 16, 2024. Read alouds can include folktales, bilingual books or books from your favorite Latino/a authors. If you are interested, please fill out each question. Thank you!

• Why: The Book Mobile 5K raises funds to put books in kids' hands. Our goal is to promote the love of reading for all.

Join us for a fantastic morning full of music, door prizes, awards, snacks and of course, the run. End of race raffle prizes for 5K runners only. Chick-fil-A will sell biscuits and juice at the 5K for $5 with proceeds benefitting the Book Mobile program. Leashed dogs and strollers are welcome!
