A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Super Bowl Sunday GRHS Longhorns,
Happy Valentine's week! Tomorrow there will be lots of ways to keep the love flowing for our GRHS choir and clubs as Singing Valentines telegrams will be going on and our GRHS clubs will have a fun food day during all lunches! (cash only) Check out the flyers below on how you can support and partake in the fun!
We have LOTS of GR-eat things to celebrate....Black History Spotlights each morning on the announcements by Mr. Jenkins African American Studies students, 10 GRHS Swimmers are state bound, we have a state semi-finalist in Division 2 in the 2022 UIL Young Filmmakers Festival, we have one wrestler that has hung on as a State alternate, SKILLSUSA is state bound, and our Girls BB team is heading to Regionals on Tuesday!
Student Technology and Hoodie Expectations:
All the hoodies must be DOWN WHILE INSIDE THE BUILDING. This is a safety issue. As it has become hard to identify students, especially when someone makes a poor decision, and I do not want a case of mistaken identity, when conducting an investigation. They are also problematic when it comes to airpods being hidden. Thanks for your adherence to this rule. As of right now, I am keeping caps and beanies (as long as they do not cover up your ears. :)
*Perk...if you are WEARING YOUR LANYARD/ID you ARE able to use your devices:
- BEFORE school until 8:15AM
- During YOUR designated lunch AND advisory
- When the LAST bell rings at 3:40PM
- No HOODIES on during class time
Course Selection and Counselor Schedules:
22-23 Course Selection is in FULL swing, which means our counselors are out of their offices MOST of the day. They meet one-on-one with EVERY student to ensure they are set up for success (and graduation) here at GRHS. In the interim, if you have a question, their awesome Admin Assistant - Mrs. Ware, will be happy to assist you/your child. Her contact info is here, nware@lcisd.org and will also be linked in the counselors "out of office reply" for easy access for you.
If you do not have an ID at this point, (because you have lost BOTH of them that we gifted you) you will need to purchase a new one for $5 in the library from 8:00-8:15am.
If you choose not to, there will be a HOLD placed on your account for the end of year. (exemptions/graduation/final grades, etc)
- No ID = No Tech! ID's are mandatory everyday! No more temporaries will be issued. If you need a NEW ID/Lanyard- can be purchased for $5 in the library from 8:00-8:15 daily! Lanyards/ID's should be on the second you step through the doors each day. Please make sure you are following this rule as well as being in dress code and to ensure that you are not written up for non compliance.
The front office is open daily Monday- Friday 8:00-4:00pm to assist you. You can also directly email us or call 832-223-4200 during the same hours. We are happy to help!

We received word Wednesday morning that Andrea Flores’ film, “Astroworld, From Beginning to End” is a state semi-finalist in Division 2 in the 2022 UIL Young Filmmakers Festival. Her seven-minute film about the concert tragedy in Houston last November is one of 18 documentary films in Division 2 that made it through to the semi-final round of the annual festival. The 18 films in this semi-final round will be judged again with the State Finalists announced next Tuesday, February 15th. Keith Leung’s digital animation film, “Sob Stories” and Keenan Vaughan’s narrative entitled, “KHV NEWS” advanced to the second round last week, but neither film advanced to the semi-final round in their respective categories. We’re so proud of all these GRHS student filmmakers who took on this challenge and created their films for entry in this year’s contest. We’ll let you know how Andrea’s film fares next week.”
