Superintendent's Corner, April 7, 2023 #WeRMarshfield
EDUCATOR OF THE WEEK
This week is Assistant Principal's Appreciation Week across the nation and we thought it would be appropriate to recognize the hard work of our APs by honoring them all as Educators of the Week.
The APs in each of our seven schools are dedicated educators and building leaders. They work hard to establish proper behavioral expectations in each school as well as collaborating with the Principals and classroom teachers to support the learning environment for our students.
They do so much each day and fully promote a positive school culture and climate, as well as enhancing the social and emotional well-being of our students and staff. The Assistant Principals in Marshfield play a key role in our schools and they care greatly about all of our students and staff. When we talk about being #bettertogether, the Assistant Principals are a big part of that equation.
The ten Assistant Principals being recognized this week are:
DWS- Ms. Jen Jackson
EWS- Ms. Jean Milch
FBMS- Ms. Lisa Lynch, Mr. Scott Madden & Dr. Jeanine Smith
GWS- Mr. Mark McNulty
MES- Mr. Jeff Dunn
MHS- Ms. Patricia Casey & Mr. Dominic Centorino
SRS- Ms. Amy Fultz
Thank you to all of our Assistant Principals and congratulations on being our Educators of the Week. #WeRMarshfield.

MHS YOUTH & GOVERNMENT HIT THE STATE HOUSE
The eight students who represented MHS at Youth & Government were able to spend two days collaborating with students from around the state as they learned first-hand how the legislative process in Massachusetts works.
The Marshfield program of Youth & Government is one of the largest in the state and they have been a part of this organization for more than two decades.
MARSHFIELD 2036- STRATEGIC PLAN
MARSHFIELD 2036
AN OPEN INVITATION FOR FOCUS GROUP PARTICIPANTS
In September 2023 we will welcome the Marshfield High School Class of 2036 into kindergarten. What will the world be like when today’s students leave school? What do our schools need to do to assist and prepare our students to be successful students, compassionate individuals, and engaged citizens? These two questions are the motivation behind Marshfield Public Schools’ comprehensive Strategic Planning process: MARSHFIELD 2036. Throughout the spring, the district intends to:
Engage the Public;
Create a Clear Vision for Our Schools;
Establish Action Plans for Realizing that Vision; and
Focus on Continuous Improvement and Systemic Renewal.
To complete our Strategic Plan, the District has partnered with the Teaching and Learning Alliance (TLA) to facilitate our process. The first phase of MARSHFIELD 2036 will involve a series of Focus Sessions, facilitated by our TLA Consultants, where participants will be given the opportunity to provide suggestions for revising our Educational Philosophy and Goals, as well as identifying future trends and issues that may pose challenges and opportunities for our community, our schools, and our students.
The quality of our Strategic Plan will be directly related to the quality of feedback and participation in the focus sessions. At this time, Marshfield Public Schools is seeking volunteers to participate in one of the focus sessions with our TLA Consultants. Please see the opportunity to meet with our consultants below and share your thoughts:
Target Audience: Marshfield Parents/Guardians & Community Members
Date: Monday, April 10, 2023
Time: 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Location: Marshfield High School Auditorium
Over the years, Marshfield Public Schools’ success has hinged on the broad-based involvement and support of our community. We have consistently relied on the expertise, interest, and ideas of our faculty and community to create an outstanding school system for our students. Based on those successes, we are once again reaching out to the entire Marshfield community through MARSHFIELD 2036 to ensure future generations of Marshfield residents benefit from our programs and services for years to come.
Over the next two weeks, there will also be Focus Groups for our Faculty & Staff, MHS Students, District Leadership & the School Committee. An invitation to serve on the Strategic Plan Working Group will also be sent out soon. The work of that group will begin in the last week of April and run through the middle of June.
Please consider joining us as we plan strategically for the future. If you are unable to attend the focus sessions, please note that a survey will be forthcoming, which will provide you another opportunity to share your feedback regarding the Marshfield Public Schools. An invitation to serve on the Strategic Plan Working Group will also be sent out soon. Please consider joining us in building a better future for our students.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey W. Granatino

2023 ANNUAL TOWN MEETING
On Monday, April 24, 2023, Marshfield will hold its Annual Town Meeting. The event will begin at 7:00 PM in the MHS Auditorium. Beyond the MPSD FY24 budget, there will be a few capital articles related to our schools as well as the article that pertains to the District potentially becoming a member of the South Shore Regional Vocational Technical High School (SSRVTHS).
Currently there are eight districts that make up the SSRVTHS; Abington, Cohasset, Hanover, Hanson, Norwell, Rockland, Scituate & Whitman. Beyond a positive vote at our ATM, the article for us to become a new member has to pass in at least six of the town meetings of the current member towns. If that occurs, we would become an active member beginning in the 2024-25 school year. There will be additional information presented at the ATM on this article.
Here is the entire warrant for the 2023 Annual Town Meeting.
