Conroe ISD Bond Updates
The November 5th Bond Referendum contains a second proposition, Proposition B, which includes the installation of artificial turf on the fields used by Oak Ridge, TW College Park, Conroe, Caney Creek and The Woodlands High School. This will allow the 15,000+ students to

Attendance
As we progress through the school year, please continue to remember the importance of school attendance and arriving to school on time. In addition, children who arrive late to school miss the important groundwork that is laid by teachers at the beginning of the day.
The instruction and learning that occur on a daily basis in the classroom is our central mission. Parents who make regular school attendance and punctuality a high priority are helping their children learn to accept responsibility, which is an important lesson for a successful life.
As we work to increase Collins Intermediate’s daily attendance – please continue to support your child’s educational process by limiting the amount of school missed except for illness. Collins Intermediate daily goal is 98.5%.

Thank You
Nell Kendall, Nurse
5th grade vision and hearing screening has been completed and referral letters were sent home with your student if he/she did not pass vision or hearing. Please take that referral letter to the doctor with you and return to the clinic. The state of Texas requires us to document in our state report whether follow-up visits were completed. I will be reaching out to parents soon of children referred via email to see where you are in the process. Thanks! Nurse Kendall
Flu season is upon us!
The flu is a serious and highly contagious disease. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the best way to protect yourself and your family is by ensuring that everyone 6 months of age and older gets an annual flu vaccination. It’s also important to be informed about the flu. Here are some facts to help you better understand this disease.
Did You Know?
Flu spreads through tiny droplets made when a person talks, coughs or sneezes and may spread up to 6 feet away.
Flu symptoms usually start suddenly and may include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches, and tiredness. Nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea are also common symptoms in children.
Sometimes a flu vaccine isn't well matched to that season's circulating strains of flu. If this happens, it's still important to get vaccinated because it still offers some protection against the circulating flu strains. • Although the flu vaccine is never 100% effective, it is the best protection available against the flu. Flu By the Numbers in the United States In addition to an annual flu vaccination, other ways to keep yourself and your family healthy during flu season are:
Wash hands often: use soap and water or hand sanitizer to stop the spread of germs.
Stay home if you don't feel well: keep germs from spreading to others.
Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze: use a tissue or cough into your elbow.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth: germs spread this way.
Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with germs: this is particularly important when someone is sick.

Nominations for Gifted and Talented Testing
Nominations are now open for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until February, nominations are accepted at this time. Nominations can be made by the parents and/or teachers. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. If you are interested in nominating your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher at conferences. Nominations will be accepted through December 18. You may request a nomination form from the front office or the Assistant Principal. You can also find the nomination form and other GT information on the CISD GT homepage.

Choir
The College Park Feeder choir concert was wonderful. It was powerful to see the progression from Intermediate to High School choir.
The success of Collins Chorale is due to the students attentive willingness to learn. I know that it takes effort on your part for that learning to take place. Thank you, parents. Our next performance is December 5th. We are working on 5 lovely pieces of music for that concert.
There will be one extended rehearsal on November 15th.
All rehearsals are important.
My favorite communication tool for parents is Remind. I know that some of you have been able to sign on to Collins Chorale, and that is great.
If not, this is an attempt to remedy that situation. You will need the code - it is @2a77fk
