Did You Know . . .
This year our staff is involved in 11 professional development days, or as we refer to them In-Service days. Three of these days involve our NEBOCES schools, eight are in house opportunities, and one includes our Knowledge Bowl event. Our staff is committed to continuously improving our school district with our students' needs being the biggest priority. We are working every day to get better for our students!
Visitor to Preschool
The preschool class had a special guest on Thursday. Karen Walker, from the cafeteria, showed them how to use a machine to cut apples and answered their many questions. Preschool is working on learning who works in our school and how to welcome visitors into their classroom.
Thank you Miss Karen!
Buckle Up for Safety Presentation
Each year our 3rd – 5th grade students have the chance to attend a Buckle Up-Save Yourself, Save a Friend assembly put on by Rural Communities Resource Center and Washington County Connections. The program informs students of the importance of wearing a seatbelt and occupant safety.
Fifth Grade Attends Water Festival
Akron's 5th grade students traveled to the Logan County Fairgrounds for the Lower South Platte Children's Water Festival on Wednesday, September 20. There were several stations set up for students to rotate through to learn about all things water which included: the water cycle, how beavers affect ecosystems, trivia, sand art to represent soil layers, water sources, and edible soil safely made of cereal. There were also special presentations from Highline Power, Sterling Fire Department, and Logan County SO with their K9's. The 5th graders had a great time!
Middle School Football
On Monday, the 6th grade football team had a chance to play Merino. The Akron 6th grade Rams came away with a win. The Merino Rams came back to Akron on Thursday to take on our MS A team. The Akron Rams were again victorious over the Merino Rams with a score of 14 - 0.
Go Blue!
Middle School Volleyball
The Middle School Rams have had a busy week taking on the Wiggins Tigers, Merino Rams and Fort Morgan Mustangs. The girls all worked hard and got a lot of playing time in. Each team continues to improve and is working toward end of season tournaments.
Akron Football
Last Friday the HS football boys traveled to Holly. The team came home with a big win defeating Holly 41 - 22. Monday the JV team took on the Lyons Lions. Although the score didn’t reflect a win for the Rams JV, they gained more experience, and built up some stamina for future contests.
The Rams have a bye in the schedule this week and will be in action again next week when they host Haxtun on Friday, September 29th.
Go Rams!
High School Volleyball
Akron will host our annual volleyball tournament on Saturday, September 23.
Please come on over and enjoy some volleyball and cheer our Rams on to victory!!
Akron Golfers Play Well at Regionals
The Akron boys golf season came to an end Tuesday in Greeley. The boys golfed well, but were unable to advance to the next level. We graduate three seniors this year, our adopted Rams from Merino, Jaxson Samber, Slayter Goss and Akron's Kalen Kemp. Varsity golfers returning next season will be Darin Knutzen, Rylee Bacon and Parker Molt. Our JV golfers Alex Galindo, Tristan Hall, James Vorce, and Anthony McMahill will work to move to the next level next year. Thanks for the effort put in this season players and Coach Clarkson . A special thanks to Akron Booster Club for the goody bags they put together for the young men.
