Pre-Academy Monthly Newsletter
April 2023 Edition
Dear APA Families,
Thank you for making the 29th Street Book Fair an outstanding success!
Thanks to your contributions, we sold 275 books and raised over $800 for our school! The proceeds will be used to restock our PBIS store. We also collected more than $40 for All for Books™, a program turning Book Fair donations into books for children who cannot afford them.
Our reward for hosting a book fair is watching your kids discover new books. All that joy wouldn’t be possible without volunteers from our school community – you deserve our special thanks.
We hope to see you and your child at our next Book Fair. Until then, happy reading!

CHAIN OF COMMAND

COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS
All APA cadets in grades 6-12, as per our charter policy, are required to complete twenty-four (24) volunteer hours of community service per year. We will celebrate community service successes at the end of year awards day. APA strongly believes in “giving back” to others and to our community. Check out the graphic below for some community service ideas!
We also have a newer program called the Jet Fuel program, where students, grades 6-12, can help maintain the community garden and put together food boxes for the local community. Cadets can earn up to 2 hours per week of community service through the Jet Fuel program. Please email Mattie Walsh at mwalsh@goapa.org for more information!
Cadets will record their hours using a community service form via Google Forms. Cadets can ask their homeroom teachers for the community service form. Cadets can also ask their homeroom teacher how many hours they have recorded. Cadets will fill out their own forms based on their service hours for the specific events/service hours they worked. It will later be approved by administration.
