Updates from Superintendent Radeke

Dear Lester Prairie Families, Staff, and Community Members,

I am thrilled to be starting my fourth year serving the Lester Prairie learning community as your Superintendent. Thank you for your partnership as we work together to make sure all of our learners have a successful school experience!

The Lester Prairie School District staff and I are excited about this upcoming school year. We are settled into our new building spaces and enjoying all of the benefits those spaces bring to us. Alongside our excellent academic programs, sports, and activities, we are re-energizing a district-wide PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) initiative, bringing back advisories in the high school, and introducing a new reading curriculum at the elementary. To support positive mental health, our school district will continue with our 2B Continued partners AND we are adding a TOP 20 program that is sure to be a positive experience for our staff and students. At Lester Prairie Schools, we are committed to caring for each other, providing a quality education, and honoring and supporting the gifts of every student.

Please join us at Open House on Wednesday, August 31st to kick off a great new year, take your school pictures, meet the staff, and enjoy a free supper. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

The federal government is no longer providing the free school breakfast and lunch program that we have been able to offer these past two years. This year, costs will be:

• Breakfast = $1.95
• K-6 Lunch = $2.10
• 7-12 Lunch = $2.55

Your income level may qualify you for free or reduced pricing. Please consider filling out the Educational Benefits Form available at Open House or in the front office. The information is confidential. Here are the income guidelines:

• Cross Country has their first meet tomorrow morning at Baylor Park.
• Volleyball will have their first match at United Christian Academy on Monday and their first home match on Thursday.
• Football opens their season at Bethlehem Academy next Friday.
• JH Football and Volleyball practices start on Monday.
• Boys Soccer has their first game on Monday at St. James.
• All activity schedules can be found at lpbulldogactivities.org

We currently have the following extracurricular positions open for the '22-23 school year: C Squad Volleyball Coach, Assistant Girls Basketball coach, JH Girls Basketball coach, and Robotics Coach. School Districts are required to update their COVID Return-to-School Plans every 6 months. Our plan is posted on the Superintendent page of our website.

• Open House: Wednesday, August 31st from 4pm-7pm
• Sept. 6 - First day of school for grades 1-12
• Sept. 6 & 7 - Kindergarten Listening Conferences
• Sept. 8 - First day of school for Kindergarten
• Sept. 20 - School Board Meeting at 5:45pm
