Principal's Peek at the Week
Saints Joseph and John School - August 24, 2023
Dear Saints Joseph and John School Families,
“Hold fast to the hope that lies before us.” – Hebrews 6:18
Welcome Back- Faculty and staff are thrilled to welcome our students back into the building! Classrooms look wonderful, as our teachers have worked diligently to create a positive learning environment for our students. Tomorrow we celebrate our return to school with an opening of the year prayer service in church organized by Mrs. Estephan and Mr. Clark, and a pizza picnic lunch sponsored by our PTU. What a great way to kickstart our hopeful new school year!
Go Vikings- This coming weekend is the opening weekend for all of our sports teams- Football, Volleyball, Cheer and Cross Country! I look forward to a great season ahead for all of our student athletes!
Thank you- Due to the generosity of donors participating in WeGiveCatholic over the last two
years, our courtyard has been entirely revamped into a green space that will be used for
outdoor classes, study areas, and prayer in nature. Most recently, the outdoor flooring
and turf were added. We are extremely fortunate for the renovation.
EdChoice Scholarship- Last month opened a new opportunity for families in Ohio to obtain
scholarships for attending private schools, like Saints Joseph and John. This is a great opportunity for families and for our school and there is still time to complete an application if you have not already done so. If you have already applied, applications are still being processed by the state. Please continue to check your email on file with the state of Ohio for updates. Once a family's scholarship is approved, SJJ will update and modify tuition payment agreements and/or issue tuition refunds as needed and as soon as possible. Please email the school business manager Mrs. Patty Briggs at pbriggs@sjjschool.org if you have questions about the EdChoice Scholarship Program.
Blessings,
Mrs. Schenek
SJJ WELCOMES MRS. MILLER TO THE MIDDLE SCHOOL TEAM!
Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Kristin Miller to the role of middle school English Language Arts/Reading and 7th grade homeroom teacher. Mrs. Miller will officially begin teaching our middle school students on Wednesday. She brings 12 years of experience in education, specifically teaching middle school ELA. She is excited to return and teach at her alma mater and the school where her children also attend. Mrs. Miller's solid teaching experience coupled with her passion for writing will undoubtedly have a positive impact on our students!
We say farewell to Mrs. Katie Wirtz as she moves on from SJJ and Catholic education tomorrow. We wish her the best in her future endeavors!
NEW TAGS and CARDS FOR BUS AND CAR RIDERS
Bus riders- This year, SJJ is implementing bus tags for students in grades K-2 who ride the bus. The laminated tags should remain attached to your child's backpack. This helps our faculty and staff to quickly identify which bus students ride home to help ensure a speedy and safe dismissal process.
Car riders- All students received two laminated windshield placards with student last names printed on them. Please place this placard on your visor as you move through the car line so faculty and staff coordinating dismissal can easily view them. We ask that parents/caregivers picking up students keep this placard visible until your child enters the car. If you need additional placards, please contact the school office.
Thank you for your help!
