Use Edge's Scrolling Screenshot Tool
Have you ever "snipped" an image or text from a web page using the Snipping Tool found in Windows accessories? This is great for snipping maps, graphs, quotes, political cartoons, text and other online media to insert into a document or presentation. If you have, you may have noticed that everything you want to snip must be showing within the window on your desktop. What if the selection you want to capture goes beyond what is showing on your desktop requiring you to scroll down. Enter the Microsoft Edge Scrolling Screenshot tool!
Yes, Edge has struggled to compete with Chrome since it was released. You may have even been told not to use it. However, Edge is the only web browser that allows you to take notes, annotate, doodle, and highlight directly on web pages. To use the Scrolling Snipping tool:
- Open the Edge browser and go to the page that has the information you want to snip and copy or share.
- Click the Add Notes icon as shown in illustration A below.
- Click the Clip tool as shown in illustration B below. Click and drag on your screen (as you would if using the snipping tool) to select the content you wish to snip. As you move to the bottom of the the desktop, your screen scrolls down so you can continue to select content in one snip.
- When you let go of the mouse, you will see the word copied. Your selection is copied to the clipboard and you can paste it in Word, an email, OneNote, or wherever you like.
