Nomination of Vice President
- President Maryann Desecki nominated Andrea Del Zotti as Vice President; Member Del Zotti accepted the nomination and was voted in as the new Vice President.
Board Business
Triple I Conference: Members were given option to sign up for workshops and mandatory trainings for new members. Dr. Boryszewski explained that the District's two new members have already begun taking their mandatory classes. They both also toured the buildings, and it is a pleasure to have them. President Desecki recommended that the members attend the Tripe I conference workshops, as they are quite
IASB West Cook meeting will be held at October 25th. President Desecki shared that the presentations and conversations are always pertinent to District 81.
IASB Educational Environments Award to Washington School:
- Dr. Boryszewski shared that Washington School has received the highest level of award, "Distinction" from the Illinois Association of School Boards. It is a particularly special honor because the judges are a panel of administrators and architects. Kennedy received an award of merit, and now Washington is receiving the highest award.
- Member Downs commented that she received compliments from an attendee of the Dedication Ceremony, who was from Berkley school district, and that it was nice to know that others outside of the SD81 community were there and saw the school.
- Secretary Ewanio congratulations to Dr. Boryszewski, sharing that she gives credit to the Board of Education, but that her hard work is recognized.
Old Business Information
Lincoln Stormwater/Field Construction:
- Dr. Boryszewski shared that the turf is being rolled out and it's very exciting, and eye-opening to watch the meticulous process that goes into preparing for laying the turf. She commented that she was disappointed that the District did not have the field ready for the students softball season, but the quarry strike held back the project. The field is something to be proud of.
- Dr. Boryszeski commented that this is the first time Lincoln did not get water after a heavy rainfall. She explained the necessary improvements to the curtainwall with improved drainage system. In addition, the glass was altered in the media center, so the space is not getting the heat and sunlight that it did before. The same flooring that was installed at Washington was also installed on the LMS patio.
Kennedy Courtyard: The project is moving along and still scheduled for completion by mid-October.
