COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH NAMED NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL FOR 2022
After a rigorous application process, we are thrilled to announce to you that Council Rock High School South has been named a National Blue Ribbon School for 2022!
This morning, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona recognized 297 schools throughout the country. Council Rock South is one of three high schools recognized from Pennsylvania. This recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. National Blue Ribbon Schools serve as models of effective school practices for state and district educators and other schools throughout the nation.
From the U.S. Department of Education website, “The coveted National Blue Ribbon School award affirms the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content. The National Blue Ribbon School flag gracing an entry or flying overhead is a widely recognized symbol of exemplary teaching and learning.”
CR South will be recognized in a formal ceremony held in Washington, D.C. in November.
Best,
Andy

TRIP Initiative-Research Program for HS students
Fox Chase Cancer Center, in partnership with William Tennent High School, is offering the Teen Research Internship Program (TRIP) Initiative during the Winter/Spring of 2023.
TRIP is an intensive 11-week science exploratory program for select high school students from Philadelphia and the surrounding communities. At its core, the program aims to foster a love for science whilst building resiliency, communication, and critical thinking skills outside the traditional confines of school.
Importantly, this program is free for all students. Our previous sessions of the program have shown it to be transformative to students, giving them a much-needed peek into the science world that both excites their imagination and helps with career path decisions.
I am asking that you circulate this information, along with the attached flyer, to your students and encourage those you feel are qualified to apply (instructions on how to apply can be found at https://www.tripinitiative.com/apply-to-trip.html). We are looking for bright, talented, and motivated students that can commit to all 11 weeks of the program and that want to learn more about research.
A short and longer video about the program can be viewed here https://bit.ly/3mesky3 and here https://bit.ly/2FejpMv, respectively. Additional information about the program can be found on our website.
