Secondary Student Interest Survey
Student feedback is an essential part of effective learning at Mayde Creek High School. For this reason, we are asking for our parents support as we roll out our Secondary Student Interest Survey over the course of the next two weeks (February 19 - March 2).
The purpose of the survey is to assess student interest in educational programs currently offered by Katy ISD such as dual credit, career and technical education, and JROTC, as well as programs we are exploring for future implementation.
This is a 15-minute survey was administered during advisory on Thursday last week. Students may also receive a personalized link for the survey to their Katy ISD email address that they may access ahead of time.
If you have any questions or concerns about the survey, please feel free to contact Mayde Creek High School.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our campus and programs!
Mayde Creek High’s Production of Silent Sky Shines Light On Harvard’s Groundbreaking Female Astronomers
Mayde Creek High School’s UIL One Act Play competition piece is Silent Sky by Lauren Gunderson.
Much in the spirit of the 2016 film Hidden Figures and based on real events, Silent Sky brings to life the work of astronomer Henrietta Leavitt, who in the early 20th Century rose high above her duties as a “computer” at Harvard and developed the techniques that led to the first discovery of galaxies beyond our own.
Silent Sky features a tight ensemble cast including Glendaliris Torres-Greaux, Samuel Oladejo, Ashley Galan, Bailye Salas, and Savannah James.
A pre-contest performance will take place at the Mayde Creek High School Performing Arts Center on March 6 at 7:00 P.M. Tickets will be $6 and will be available in March at www.mchstheatre.org or may be purchased at the door.
Photos/Tribute Pages Requested For The Yearbook
The yearbook staff needs your help! We are in need of photos of students over the summer hanging out, on vacation, playing sports, working, volunteering—anything goes! Photos must be in focus and of good quality. Please send all photos to Katie Frazier at KathrynLFrazier@katyisd.org for consideration for the yearbook. Be sure to include the names of any students in the photos. Thank you for your help!
Don’t forget to buy your child’s yearbook! Get it crossed off your to do list before the holiday chaos! Our MCHS yearbook staff has some amazing things planned for this year’s book and you don’t want to miss out—we have a new yearbook adviser and this yearbook will be like nothing MCHS has ever seen before! Go to www.balfour.com to reserve yours today! Hurry—the price goes up later in the year!
Parents, do you have a senior this year? Be sure to purchase a senior tribute in the yearbook! This is a great way to honor your senior in a permanent way that he or she will cherish forever. Prices are greatly reduced this year to assist families still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey—we want all parents of seniors to be able to purchase a senior tribute without worry of additional financial burden. Please visit http://shop.balfour.com/smi85525/catalog/category/view/s/yearbook-ads/id/312796/ to purchase and create your tribute. Tributes are for seniors only. Please contact Katie Frazier at KathrynLFrazier@katyisd.org with any questions. Thank you!

Advanced Placement Exams

Late registration will begin at 12:01 AM on February 26 and continue through 11:59 PM, February 28, 2018. (A late fee of $5/exam will be charged in addition to the exam fee.) All student who are enrolled in AP courses in Katy ISD are strongly encouraged to participate in AP exams. An Advanced Placement (AP) exam score of 3 or higher can be recognized for a distinction on the Foundation High School Plan. However, students are not required to take the exam, and the exam has no bearing on the high school course grade.
Students in special economic circumstances must identify that need during exam registration. AP Coordinators will confirm eligibility for any fee waivers.
Students in need of testing accommodations must adhere to the College Board timeline for these requests. Contact the AP Coordinator, Mrs. Bowman, with any questions.
