Dear Matador Families,
Welcome back to another exciting school year at Estacado High School. We are thrilled to have you join us once again as we embark on a journey of growth, learning, and leadership. Our theme for this year is “Building Leaders”, and we are committed to nurturing and empowering each and every one of our students to become confident, responsible, and impactful leaders of tomorrow.
As we gather once again, we are reminded of the incredible potential within each of our students. Our commitment to fostering leadership skills is stronger than ever, and this year’s theme perfectly encapsulates the essence of our mission “Transforming Lives”.
L - Lead with Purpose: This year, we challenge each of you to step forward and embrace your roles as leaders, whether in the classroom, on the field, or within the wide community.
E - Engaged and Empowered: We encourage you to be fully present in your academic journey, asking questions, participating actively, and embracing challenges.
A - Accountable for Excellence: True leaders hold themselves accountable for their actions and choices. Strive for excellence in all that you do, from your studies to your interactions with peers and teachers.
D - Determined to Achieve: In the face of adversity, stay resolute and maintain focus on your goals. Through determination, you will overcome challenges and achieve remarkable feats.
We extend our gratitude to our Matador Families for their unwavering support. Together, we create an environment where LEADership flourishes and students thrive.
As we begin this journey of “Building Leaders”, let us remember that leadership is a continuous process or growth. Let this academic year be a testament to your dedication, your engagement, your accountability, and your determination.
Welcome Matadors to the 23-24 school year, where LEADership begins and futures are shaped!
Sincerely,
Angelica Wilbanks

STUDENT BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS
This year our theme is "BUILDING LEADERS." At Estacado High School, we recognize that leadership is not simply a title, but a journey of self-discovery, growth, and positive influence. This theme encapsulates our commitment to nurturing and shaping young minds into resilient, visionary, and compassionate leaders of tomorrow. Through engaging lessons, thought-provoking discussions, and immersive experiences, we aim to ignite the spark of leadership within each student, fostering skills such as effective communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and empathy. Whether it's in the classroom, on the field, or within the community, "BUILDING LEADERS" seeks to empower every student with the tools and mindset to create a lasting impact and inspire others. Embark on this transformative journey and unlock your potential to lead with purpose, integrity, and a commitment to positive change.

Sign Up for the SAT or ACT
Most colleges require either the SAT or ACT and express no preference for either test. That said, significant percentages of students at selective colleges are submitting scores from both tests when they apply. Preparing for two major standardized tests may sound daunting, but there are some very good reasons to take both the SAT and ACT, and it's easier (and more affordable!) than ever before to prep for both tests (princetonreview.com)
Reminders
1. FASFA requirement for graduation. LEARN will be on campus on Wednesday's and Thursday's. Set up an appointment to get this done. Please check bulletin board outside of counselor's office for students that have not yet met this requirement.
2. College acceptances and scholarships: Please get this information to Mrs. Rodriguez at medesa.rodriguez@lubbockisd.org, so we can announce your accomplishment.
3. Scholarship and FAFSA information are found in your Google Classroom, Senior Class of 2024! Let me know if you have any questions.
