Chapel
For our chapel this week, a couple of teachers shared testimonies, God stories. Mrs. Sainburg shared about a time when her daughter, Courtney, was in 6th grade. Her daughter's class had memorized the entire book of James, and she declared that James 1:2-4 were her favorite verses. "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." Although those seem odd verses to choose as favorites, God knew a difficult time was coming. Courtney told her mom that she knew the nearness and goodness of God in a special way due to the trials.
Mrs. Kidder shared how it was very difficult to end her senior year of high school at home due to Covid-19. Then she started college online, again due to Covid. She thought her friendships would remain, but she was very lonely and without any good friends during this time. She began to pray that God would send her a good friend. That is when she met a guy by the name of John. God answered her prayer by sending her a best friend, her now husband.
Ms. Gonske shared about a time when she taught children at an African school. The students lived in the slums, but they had such joy. Their joy was from their faith in the Lord. Nehemiah 8:10 b says, "For the joy of the Lord is your strength."
We ended chapel by praying for the students, our pen pals, at Unity in Hope School System in Pakistan.
At our next chapel on January 16, Pastor Matthew Earls from Northern Lakes Church will be our chapel speaker. Chapel is at 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday at the dome (next to the main building). You are invited to join us!

Cold Weather Reminders
Bitter cold weather is projected all next week. Here is a reminder from our handbook, "If it is raining or if the temperature or wind chill is below 10 degrees F., the recess location will be indoors."
Once we are back outside again, I want to remind parents (we have been reminding the students) of dress code expectations for winter recess.
"Coats, mittens or gloves, and hats must be worn on cold days. On snowy days, boots and snow pants are also required to play in the snow."
Please ensure that your student has a coat, mittens or gloves, and a hat or hood, along with boots and snow pants to wear. If snow is on the ground, recess activities will be limited for students who do not have boots and/or snow pants.
