It was a busy first month back on campus with our students. We are so proud of how our students have responded to the COVID-19 safety protocols that have been introduced. While we understand that any case of the coronavirus is too many, currently only 0.5% of our student population has tested positive for this illness. Good job Bulldogs!

During the first month of school 600 art students folded and created delicate origami butterflies. On the surface of each butterfly is a student’s handwritten hope, wish, or dream for this school year. Butterflies symbolize endurance, change, hope, and life, all of which SHS’s students and teachers embody. Art Teachers Mary Beth Breshears, Amanda Craddick, Ty Lee, and Katie McCloskey worked together to conceptualize a project that would reach beyond the walls of the classroom and show the transformative power of art. The butterflies serve as a daily reminder to keep hoping, dreaming, and taking action towards a better future.
