Positivity Project
This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Teamwork. Teamwork means you work well as a member of a group or team. You are loyal, reliable, and dedicated to helping your team achieve its goals.
Teamwork is the ability and willingness to place overall group success as a higher priority than individual achievement. Those who demonstrate strengths in teamwork often work to help all group members find success. These individuals are willing to commit time and resources in order to further group goals and help toward the greater good.
For individuals, teamwork often means deferring or delaying individual accomplishments in order to ensure that the group maintains a high level of success. Their commitment to the larger group effort makes them good teammates. The positive feelings associated with being part of a larger whole -- can be highly beneficial and combat selfishness and egotism.
To practice and encourage the character strength of teamwork with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you will watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions.
Math Interventions
We are beginning to see great progress as we continue to implement SpringMath. Students across the district are showing mastery of these initial skills and classes are moving forward through the foundational skills at each grade level.
The purpose of this communication is to make you aware that as classes continue to work through the skills at each grade level, we will be monitoring individual student data as well. This will help us identify students who would benefit from more support or a “boost” to ensure we provide the additional time and attention needed to help them master these skills.
Students who get this additional support may be pulled for approximately 15-minute intervals to work with a math specialist. We are so excited to share that this is not a “one size fits all” approach, but rather, the support will be tailored to meet the exact needs of each individual student. This also means that students may benefit from 3 or more weeks of extra support, or from a few weeks of support- it will vary student by student. Once the student has received what is needed to reach proficiency, the student will not continue to be pulled.
Because this is so individualized and fluid, we wanted you to know in advance about how this works, as this kind of “boost" is typical of a strong Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), which we are committed to establishing here.
If you have any questions or concerns about this or anything else related to your child’s experience at school, please feel free to contact me directly.
Free and Reduced Meal Applications
Dear Stockbridge Community Schools Parents and Caregivers,
I want to take this opportunity to wish you and your student a warm welcome back to school. We have been working diligently to maintain and improve the quality of education our children receive at the Stockbridge Community Schools. Many of our efforts are funded through grants that rely on data that comes from our free and reduced meals applications. This year every student is eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch throughout the district, and we are all grateful for the assistance this provides every family. Unfortunately, we have not seen as many free and reduced meal applications come back as we have in years past.
We are asking for your support in filling out the free and reduced meals application to help us continue to capture the necessary funding to continue our Title and At-Risk programs at the same level that we have become accustomed to so we can support all of the students in our community with these additional programs. The application is attached to this letter and is also available on our website at https://stockbridge.familyportal.cloud/benefits/onlyapplying. Thank you for your continued support of the Stockbridge Community Schools. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact myself or Food Service Director Stephanie White at whites@panthernet.net.
Sincerely,
Stephen J. Keskes

Daily Schedule
Drop off- Begins at 8:35am. We will continue with our same procedure as last year. For safety, please do not let your child out of your car until they are in the designated area (Sidewalk in front of the school) for drop off.
Class begins at 8:50am. Please make sure that your student is here on time to start the day.
Pick up: We will continue with our same procedure as last year. As parents pull up the the sidewalk in front of Heritage, members of the staff will support the process to ensure student are safely supported to their cars.
Please expect some delays during the first few weeks of school as we streamline processes and support our students. This will ensure the safety of all our students.
