
Future Tense
WILL + VERB
The first future tense is the future with "will." Use the future with will to talk about:
- instant or spontaneous decisions – I’m hungry. I think I’ll make a sandwich.
- future predictions based on a belief – I’m sure you’ll pass the test.
- promises – I won’t tell anyone your secret.
- offers – I’ll carry your bags for you.
- requests – Will you tell Henry I called?
- threats – If you do that again, I’ll tell Mom.
- future facts – I’ll be back later tonight.
Examples:
Future With 'Will' Structure:
Positive: subject + will + verb
I will come to the party.
You will come to the party.
He will come to the party.
She will come to the party.
We will come to the party.
They will come to the party.
Negative: subject + will + not + verb
NOTE: will + not = won't
I won't have time tomorrow. / I will not have time tomorrow.
You won't have time tomorrow. / You will not have time tomorrow.
He won't have time tomorrow. / He will not have time tomorrow.
She won't have time tomorrow. / She will not have time tomorrow.
We won't have time tomorrow. / We will not have time tomorrow.
They won't have time tomorrow. / They will not have time tomorrow.
Questions: question word + will + subject + verb
What will you do?
Who will he bring?
Why will she get angry?
When will they arrive?

GOING TO
The future with "going to" is used to express events you have already planned in the future and your intentions for the future. We sometimes also use the present continuous for planned events in the near future.
Examples:
She is going to become an accountant.
We're going to have a test next week.
Positive: subject + to be + going to + verb
I am going to attend the meeting.
It is going to rain.
They are going to visit Nova Scotia next summer.
Negative: subject + to be + not + going to + verb
I am not going to visit Rome next year.
She isn't going to buy a new car.
They are not going to visit their parents next summer.
Questions: (question word) + to be + subject + going to + verb
What am I going to buy?
Where is she going to live?
When is he going to leave?
Why are we going to go to the gym?
