Greetings Central Families,

With roughly just four months left of learning opportunities in the 2022-2023 school year, teachers are infusing fun into the winter months, exploring new innovations for upcoming units, and planning ahead for spring celebrations. Additionally, we are in the middle of our winter benchmark testing window, which means teachers will soon have updated performance data to share, and important information to inform their instructional decisions. This is a pivotal stretch of the school year marked by increased rigor, heightened intention, and sights specifically set on meeting end-of-year goals and outcomes. Please continue to support your child in their learning strides at home also.

Every Friday a golden ticket drawing takes place and there is one winner from each grade level. A golden ticket is worth 10 Rocket slips.

Some students choose to save up their rocket slips for an opportunity to pie a staff member. A student recently enjoyed giving Miss Nauta the honors of a pie in the face :)

Please send your student prepared for outdoor recess. Contact the office if your child doesn't have a warm winter coat, snow pants, hat, and gloves.

Please send your child to school with the necessary snacks to get them through the day.

The Muskegon County Health Department will be at Central February 21st-23rd conducting free hearing and vision screenings as follows:

Vision - 1st & 3rd graders

Hearing - DK, K, 2nd & 4th graders

If you do not wish to have your child screened, please send a written notice to the office no later than Wednesday, February 15th.

Open until March 5.

A registration form was sent home a few weeks ago. If you want your child to be seen by the mobile dentist, please send the form back by March 1.

We had a great time at our most recent Central Family Skating Party. Hope you can join us at the next skating party on Monday, March 13th at 5:30-7:30pm.

Our Capturing Kids' Hearts theme for the month of February is Kindness. This theme was introduced at an assembly today!

Looking ahead: The theme for March will be Courage. This theme will be introduced at an assembly scheduled for March 3rd.

Please do not bring your pets on school property for the safety of our students and staff. Service animals are welcome.

Medications which need to be taken in school must be administered by certified school personnel (or designee) in the presence of another adult. Parents must bring medication to the school office in the original container and file a written statement. NO STUDENT MAY BRING ANY MEDICATION TO SCHOOL.
