Closing out the 2022-23 School Year
Enjoy your "summer." We look forward to an outstanding 23-24 school year.
A Few End of the Year Best Practices
- Mark Any Missing Grades as a Zero: The quickest way is to hover over the title for an assignment, select the kebab, Select “Set default grade” and enter 0. Remember not to check the override box, as this will replace any existing grades.
- Export Final Grades: You can export your gradebook as a CSV or PDF file by selecting the Export Tab --> Export All Grades option at the top of the grades page. This way you will have a historical record of grades for your file.
- Conclude Courses: When a course is completed (end of the semester or school term) and you want to provide read-only access to the course, you should conclude the course manually in Canvas.
- Export Modified or Original Content You Want To Keep: You can share or transfer any content you wish to use again in the future. See below for export options.
Sharing Content Between Courses
Below you will find three easy options:
1. Exporting & Importing from Course to Course
2. Sharing your content to Canvas Commons
3. Importing Favorited Content from Canvas Commons

An Opportunity to Recognize Your Special Education Students
Each year the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) recognizes children and youth with exceptionalities who demonstrate their determination and achievements in multiple ways.
Presented each year at the CEC Convention & Expo, the Yes I Can Awards recognize 12 outstanding students with exceptionalities in six categories: Academics, Arts, School & Community Activities, Self-Advocacy, Technology, and Transition.
If you have served a student that stands out to you for their determination, overcoming barriers, or for their academic achievements, I encourage you to nominate them using this link: https://cec1785.wufoo.com/forms/z1jmanlf0tpi1lx/
Use can also use this link if you'd like to learn more about the Yes I Can Awards https://exceptionalchildren.org/awards/yes-i-can-awards-cec-national
*NOTE: If you choose to nominate a student, there is a question on the nomination that asks “how did you hear about the Yes I Can Awards”. You can enter "Jaimee Miller", who in addition to being our StrongMind Special Education Compliance Manager, also serves on the Honors Committee and am in the newest leadership cohort with CEC).
