Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 has been honored with dual accolades from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO): the Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for the fiscal year 2022-2023 and the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (COE) for the fiscal year ended 2022.

Brain break time with a twist!

Research shows that regular brain breaks enhance focus, creativity, and productivity. By taking a moment to rest our minds, we optimize our learning potential. So let's give it a go! Try to keep the paper on your head while walking. Drop it and you're frozen! To "defrost", a friend has to help by placing the paper back on your head, all while keeping theirs in place! A playful way to refresh and re-energize our brains.

Lady Mustang Softball: A Force Not to be Reckoned With!

Our OLHMS Lady Mustangs are a force not to be reckoned with! Last Tuesday, our Lady Mustangs took on Orland for their first home game of the season. At the beginning of the game, our bats were alive and our girls were ready to hit the ball.

Last night's Bingo Night at Covington was a tremendous success! A heartfelt thank you to all the families who participated. The evening served as a wonderful reminder of the joy and memories created when engaged in awesome school activities like these. Looking forward to more events that bring our school community together.

What I Need-WIN

The 'WIN' or 'What I Need' block is built into the K-5 schedule to give students the opportunity to work in small groups with their teacher or Interventionist. Math and Reading Interventionists may even push-into classrooms to give additional support to students. Reading small groups may include reteaching of Fundations concepts or extra practice with fluency.

Goodies with Grandparents

On Friday, September 8, students gathered in the lunch room for a very special breakfast treat! Along with their special grandparent, these Hometown kiddos enjoyed a breakfast of donuts and juice provided by our Hometown PTA. It was a great way to celebrate the upcoming holiday, Grandparent's Day on September 10.
