Welcome to November, almost! Hopefully, everyone is enjoying this quick shift in weather and being very safe during this Halloween excitement. Huge thank you to our entire school community for acknowledging breast cancer awareness and anti-bullying over this month of October! We know this compassionate and kind frame of mind will continue throughout our school year! We are incredibly excited for our Veterans Assembly on Friday and hope to see many Veterans in attendance!
Veteran's Day Assembly: Annually, we take great pride in honoring and celebrating our Veterans! We have begun preparations for this years assembly on November 3rd. If you know Veteran please share this invite and allow us the honor of celebrating them here at OLHMS on November 3rd.
D123 Annual Leaf Raking: Our community leaf raking event is taking place on November 11th! Help us support our community in need by registering below!
Feed Six: We are excited for this event on December 9th! More information below on how you can participate or help someone else take part by donating!
Special Education Partner Meeting: D123 will be hosting a meeting on November 15th here in the media center.
D123 Early Learning Center: District 123 is excited for the Early Learning Center coming in 2024!!

NJHS Food Drive: We will began a food drive for Pilgrim Faith through November 15th! Help support our local community in need!
Early Dismissals: In the event that a student needs to be picked up early from school, please communicate with the main office as advisory teachers may not see our scholar based on their daily schedule.
Our Community: Please be respectful of our neighbors around our school during arrival and dismissal. It is also important to remind our scholars about staying off community members property while waiting for a bus or walking home.

Working Lunch: We are very excited about our start to the year! As we move forward in our year, we will maintain high expectations for our scholars! We have implemented a plan for scholars to finish work during lunch. Working lunch will be used to support work completion and behavioral reflection. Students assigned to working lunch will be given a bagged lunch if they did not bring one.
Graduation Expectations
Our 8th grade scholars and parents have been given the information in this Parent Letter. These expectations have been discussed with scholars and families throughout the beginning of the year and sent home. As the year progresses additional information will be provided for our graduates!

Chicago Christian High School is excited to announce the return of our Middle School Scholastic Bowl Tournament. What is Scholastic Bowl, you might ask? This is a game in which teams of 2-5 students compete head-to-head to answer questions from a variety of topics, including history, literature, fine arts, pop culture, current events, etc. (Click HERE for more information.) The best part about Scholastic Bowl is the use of a buzzer to answer the questions! The event will be run by members of the Chicago Christian High School Scholastic Bowl Team, 2019 IHSA Scholastic Bowl Champions.
We would like to invite your school to participate in the 4th Annual CCHS Middle School Scholastic Bowl Tournament on Saturday, November 4, 2022. What are the steps to participate?
Reserve a spot for your team. To reserve a spot for your school, simply reply to this email. The first 10 schools to respond by October 1, 2023, will get to play.
Find a staff member to organize your school’s team and start talking to your students about Scholastic Bowl to get them interested.
Get a team together and start practicing. You can go to the NAQT website for more information about how to get practice materials and other resources. (https://www.naqt.com/ms/). You can also anticipate a follow-up email from Chicago Christian High School with more information about how the Scholastic Bowl competition works.
