In this unit, your child is learning all about himself or herself.
Ask your child to identify his eyes, nose, and mouth. Talk about what each body part does to help your child develop vocabulary and self-knowledge.
Invite your child to close his eyes and explore a stuffed animal or pillow. Ask: How does this feel? Then invite your child to open his eyes and describe the object.
On the Move
During the first weeks of PreK, your child is getting acclimated to school routines.
Point out schools in your neighborhood or schools that your child might eventually go to. Talk about how children at different ages go to different schools to learn. This will help your child to attach a sense of purpose to going to school.
When you pass by a school, take the opportunity to explain to your child what he or she might learn and do there.

Mrs. D's class has been learning all about me. We are naming body parts, drawing self portraits, and telling about things we like to do at school. We have reviewed colors, shapes and counting to 10. We are learning our friend's names.
