Tristan Hambly took 1st place earning a $300.00 scholarship

A huge thank you to their social studies teachers encouraging them through the process.
Congratulations to Emma Maher who is West Bridgewater Middle/Senior High School 8th Grade representative for Project 351. Emma was recognized at the school committee meeting.
Project 351 is a non-profit organization that builds student-led service across Massachusetts. One 8th-grade student from every town in Massachusetts is chosen to be an ambassador because we exemplify project 351's core values. The core values are kindness, compassion, gratitude, and humility. Project 351 is all about helping others who may be struggling and proving that young people have unlimited potential. This spring every ambassador will be hosting a clothing drive in their city. We will be partnering with cradles to crayons and helping them with their mission, which is to provide every child with the essentials.

Research shows that being kind is not only something to be enjoyed but it can also reduce our stress, increase our stamina, and stabilize our mood.
Here are a few simple acts of kindness that you can try on your own:
Pay it forward at a drive thru
Leave positive notes in random places
Bake something for your neighbor
Compliment a colleague
Treat someone to flowers
Help someone with their bags at the grocery store

World Culture Night
The World Language Department in conjunction with the Global Citizens Club, Model UN, and World Language Honor Societies are happy to announce that The World Culture Night is returning to WBMSHS this year. On Thursday, March 16th beginning at 5:30 pm, we will host this incredible community event filled with lots of food, music and entertainment. Students and families from the community will set up tables in our cafeteria, each representing a different country of their choosing. On each table, students or families will create a dish to serve as the community eats around the world! During this event, there will be several cultural workshops to participate in as well, such as African drumming, Chinese lettering, and Zumba to Brazilian music. If you and your family are interested in representing your culture with a table, we would love to have you! Please reach out to Sarah Oliveira at soliveira@wbridgewater.com . Cost of attendance is $5 per person with a $25 family cap. Come help us celebrate all of the great culture and heritage that our community has to offer!

Corre en Circulos
After learning about the famous Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo, students in Ms. Fougere’s Spanish III classes painted their own self-portraits in her style (a style that combined her culture, symbolism, surrealism, and personal experiences from her life.) They presented their self-portraits to the class in the target language, and asked questions and commented on each other’s work. ¡Muy bien hecho!

A Message from Ann Marie Grinder, Food Service Director
Greetings from the MSHS Wildcat Café!
Just a reminder that both breakfast and lunch are free this school year! The WB Food Services link has more info and menus.
Each student is offered 1 free breakfast and 1 free lunch per day. Extra entrées are $2.00 and additional a la carte items such as bottled water, cookies, crackers and ice cream can also be purchased but a student must have money on their lunch account for these extras. All items served meet strict state and federal nutrition standards. Money can be added to a student’s account two ways:
· Cash or a check can be brought to the cashier at arrival or towards the end of a meal. To keep the line moving as quickly as possible, we no longer accept money in the line.
· Electronic payments using MySchoolBucks. You will need your student’s 10-digit student ID (SASID#) to set up an account. Even if you don’t add money using MySchoolBucks, it allows you to monitor cafeteria transactions until they graduate!
We are looking to hire additional cafeteria substitutes. Interested individuals can contact me at agrinder@wbridgewater.com or at (508)894-1220.
Thank you,
Ann Marie Grinder, Food Service Director
Update from Nurse Diedrichsen
A friendly reminder that all medications need to be kept in the nurse’s office. The only exception is for students in grades 9-12 who carry life saving medications such as inhalers and/or EpiPen's. All medications, even if carried with the student, need to have a medication order on file with the nurse. If you would like to authorize your student to take over the counter medications at the nurse's office you can access the STANDING ORDER MEDICATION & ANNUAL HEALTH UPDATE FORM on our Health Services page on the district website: https://www.wbridgewaterschools.org/page/health-services
