Book Fair Bookmark Contest
Students were encouraged this week to enter the Book Fair bookmark contest! We had several students design and enter their bookmarks over the week. Today a judging committee chose the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners! Each winner got to chose a new book from the book fair! Congratulations to them and thanks to all the book fair support this week!
Counselor Lunch Bunch
Mrs, Cross had the opportunity this week to host a New Student Lunch Bunch! Students that were new to Collinsville got the chance to come meet the counselor, ask questions, and enjoy a time making friends. Sometimes it is easier to start a new school if you realize there are several other students that are new also! Everyone had a great time and got to take home a new bookmark, and enjoy some cookie treats before heading back to class!
6th Grade Student Council
Lifelines Suicide Prevention
Join the High School Counseling Team as they present the Lifelines Curriculum for parents and the community. This curriculum is presented to the students in the 6th grade, 8th grade, and 11th grade for Collinsville Schools. More information will be coming as the student presentations are scheduled in the coming months.

Family Connections
The Oklahoma State Department of Education encourages families to be a part of their student's learning. So in conjunction with the OSDE, we will be featuring a few ideas of how to work together with the schools to further your students understanding! Each week, we will focus on a core subject and ways to continue learning at home! This week will feature ideas to highlight ELA skills!
"Reading is a building block for success in all school subjects and a critical skill that develops with time and practice. Encourage your child to read for pleasure, and be a good role model by reading things you enjoy." - OSDE 6th Grade Family Guides
- Cultivate your child’s curiosity with guiding questions like these:
- What invention would you create to help visually impaired students read books more easily?
- What character in a book or movie makes you laugh the most?
- What if your favorite book got a new character from your favorite movie? Who would join the book and what would happen?
- Your child will have plenty of questions. It’s okay if you don’t have the answer every time. The best response is always, “Let’s find out together.”
"When families and schools work together as partners, it helps your child achieve academic excellence!"

Available Resources
As students transition to the 6th Grade Center, we would like to inform our parents of some additional resources that may be helpful throughout the school year.
- The Indian Education program provides free tutoring for all Collinsville students. Our students can ride a bus to Collinsville Middle School on Tuesdays and Thursdays and meet with tutors in the middle school library. The tutoring is from 3:30-4:30 and parents will need to arrange pick up for their student at 4:30, no school transportation is provided for getting students home after tutoring. More information can be obtained by calling 918-371-5779. This service will begin on September 5, 2023.
- We are very excited that students will be able to obtain additional Math support in our Math Lab this year! The lab is open each day during school hours. Students can receive additional support for a particular math lesson, work on basic math skills, or be able to make up math work from being absent. Ms. Julie Struble will be working with the students and will create a schedule for the students to be able to visit her during one of their elective hours. Please call the school office, 918-371-3144, if you have any questions about this resource.
