Tools for All Corner
Enriching Content in Canvas Assignments and Activities.
Canvas offers great opportunities to use a wide variety of learning resources to construct content that will appear in the Assignments or Activities sections. In both sections there are tools to help enrich the learning experience for all students.
If you are in the Edit mode for Assignments or Activities, you will see some icons below the RTE box.
Most errors will involve:
- Images – All images should have an alt text description.
- Links – The links should be descriptive, not just a copy and paste of the URL.
- Text – Actual text should be used. Screenshots of text are inaccessible.
- Layout – Use Headings - Headings should always include descriptive section information. Section headings allow for a quick scan of the content for sighted and non-sighted users. In Canvas, page titles are automatically generated at H1.
- Videos – All videos should have Closed Captioning available.
