Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.

Maths:
Mr Lee would like to congratulate the Year 11 students for their hard work in their latest assessments. In particular, the following students should be commended for making at least one grade of progress in Maths:
Leena, Annie, Oscar C, Ella C, Jacson, Izabela, Hollie, Jaasau, Talia, Chae-Thai, Myrtle, Kiera C, James, Mason, Harvey, Armaan, Alfie and Dexter.
Ms Adamska has made the following nominations this week:
10H for their hard work on Circle topic, well done to Veronica, Ruby, Milena, Antoni, Kacper, Louisa, Kenzie and Dominica. Arianah, Bradley, Katie, Lucas, Aurelia, Alan and Mateusz in Year 8 for their continuous effort and hard work in the lessons. Finally, well done to Further Mathematics students Rowan and James for their enthusiasm and showing the great commitment to their studies on Decisions topics this term.
Mrs Wynn would like to say well done to 9A2 and 9C2 on their recent work topic of transformations, with many obtaining full marks and also 8C3 for their great focus and work on the topic of area.
Mrs van der Lith would like to congratulate the Year 7 Rise group for amazing work on perimeter and area. Cameron, Alfie, Brendan, Kaleb, Adam and Simina drew interesting shapes with specific areas on grids on the board to demonstrate their knowledge.
Mr Horne has nominated Year 8 students Aoife, Natan, Alicja and Alex for making great progress in their studies of transformations.
Miss Harrison would like to congratulate 9B1 for their excellent work on similar shapes and area scale factors. They worked extremely hard to pick up a challenging topic in a quick timescale.
Miss Kaur has nominated 11A1 for their work on goal free problems in lesson today and creating their own 4 – 5 marks exam questions. Some examples of these are pictured below.

English:
Mrs Morris would like to congratulate the Year 11 students for their hard work in their latest assessments. In particular, the following students should be commended for making at least one grade of progress in English:

Mrs Morris would also like to mention 9B1. This week they completed a fantastic drama activity – parts of Act 4 Macbeth. Special mentions and outstanding performances were from Thomas F and Emily I.
Mr Toye would like to nominate Year 7 students Cameron), Alfie F, Brendan, Kaleb, Adam and Simina for their amazing work in English - especially their very informative, and in some cases entertaining, presentations on Dystopian Fiction!
Miss Magnay would like to say well done to her Year 11 language group who have received their mock results this week. There has been some great progress! Also nominated are 9CZ who have been studying Macbeth this term and have engaged with the text really well. They have looked at some challenging concepts and Miss Magnay is so pleased with their discussions surrounding these. Finally, well done to Jana in Year 11 literature class who has been completing extra essays in her own time to support her revision. This has shown her dedication to her studies and the work she has produced has been fantastic.
Well done to all of the year 11 students who have attended additional revision sessions with Miss Magnay, Miss Lodge, Mrs Brown and Mrs Rice. Staff have been really impressed by your commitment.
Miss Lodge has nominated 10B1 for their enthusiastic reading of Romeo and Juliet and their insightful comments on key themes and ideas. Also nominated are Year 8 students Conor W, Erin M, Aoife M, Sophie M and Alex P for their fantastic effort analysing The Tell-Tale Heart.
Miss Hogan has nominated Year 9 students Jennifer C, William and Sarah for their enthusiasm with studying Macbeth and Year 11 student Louis for his wonderful progress this term and Rhia and Julia for their brilliant focus during lessons.
Humanities:
Mr Foreman would like to congratulate the following Year 11 students for excellent marks in their recent assessment in History on Medicine, Dexter, Theo, Szymon, William, Thomas and Sania.
Miss Forbes has nominated Year 11 student Joshua for his continued effort towards revision in his History GCSE, attending all morning revision sessions that have been put on and asking really detailed questions to further his learning.
Mr Strumpher has nominated Year 11A Geography for working really hard towards their examinations, in particular Ruben F, Cameron H, Dawa T, Danils P, Harley R, Kacper B.
Mr Shepherd has made the following nominations this week for outstanding performances in their end of topic assessment. Year 7 students Keyshia, Sebi, Kaiden, Nicole, Anthony and Albert. Year 8 students Robert, Corne and Jorja. Year 9 students Ann Maria, Alicja, Georgia and Aleksandra. and Year 12 students Oscar and Lexi for amazing effort.
Mr Goddard has nominated 9ST who had a particularly good set of assessments, showing exceptional knowledge. Mr Goddard has also nominated 7ST for exceptional effort in their careers create-an-app activity. In particular the winners Kai, Liam, Caleb and Kaleb.
Mrs Brook has nominated Year 8 students Natalia for her dedication and hard work in PSHE this term and Lucas for his excellent work in RE this term.
Spanish:
Mrs Sahota has nominated 11B Spanish group. They have been working diligently and shown great promise in their recent GCSE practice papers achieving some excellent results. Keep up the great work! Special mention to Alicia, Robert, Amie-Leigh, Paulina, Jana, Amelia and Adam.
Mrs Gonzalez-Villamil Lean has made the following nominations this week:
Y11CSp1 for their resilience in their assessments in the 4 disciplines they will have in the final GCSE examinations. Also nominated are 8SI for their maturity and will to improve in their written expression in Spanish. Year 7 student Patrick for his impeccable classroom etiquette and hard work in every single session. Year 9 student Nicole for great focus in lessons and Year 10 students Arina, Greta and Arnas for their fabulous piece of writing in the assessment…İrealmente fantástico!
Mr Cancelo-Gnavi has nominated Year 8 student Wiktoria T for her hard work and amazing contribution to the lessons.
Mrs Bartlett has nominated 9ST who have been working so hard in Spanish this term and always demonstrate fantastic behaviour for learning. Mrs Bartlett is really proud of how hard they tried in the recent assessments, and the effort they put in to their redrafts. Keep up the good work!
Kinga, Kade, Bartosz, Emily and Rares were some of the year 9 students who produced excellent Spanish writing assessments in 9SW, and also worked really hard on their redrafts! Well done, you are making really excellent progress in Spanish! Also, Well done to Marian and Veronika in Year 10ASP/S for their excellent writing assessments about festivals and celebrations!
PE:
Mr Clamp has nominated Year 8 student David E for excellent commitment in lessons and a positive attitude to learning. Also nominated is Year 9 student Daniel for kind and helpful behaviour during lessons. Daniel’s attitude and leadership in extra-curricular sessions has also been outstanding.
Mrs Feeley has nominated the following students for demonstrating progress and key skills for head, heart hands in hockey assessments.

Miss Williams has nominated her Year 10 and year 8 groups who have shown great sportsmanship and etiquette when playing their Volleyball games this week.
Food Tech:
Very exciting time in Year 9 food lessons making honeycomb this week – seeing the chemical reaction of bicarbonate of soda and watching the honeycomb ‘explode’.
Science:
Miss Kritzinger has nominated Aurelia and Robert in Year 8 and Shaun and Ksawery in Year 7 for great work in Science!
Mr Cox has nominated Year 13 Biology students who have successfully completed all their compulsory practical needed for their course.
Mr Godfrey has nominated Year 13student Carmen for her superb approach to revision and
Year 11 students Melissa, Jonathan and Amie-Leigh for their effort in combined science lessons and general contributions. Also nominated is Year 12 student Hollie for achieving 100% in her end of term assessment.
Mr Tanangonan has nominated Year 10 students Kacper, Roman and Liam for excellent test results and Kurtis for great improvement.
Miss Coulson has nominated Year 10 students Dylan, Liam, Josh and Maya for excellent effort in their latest chemistry assessment! and Year 8 students Cyrus and Liberty for their improved attitude and engagement in their Science lessons.
Mr Abnett has nominated 10B/Ch who have done excellently well with their organic Chemistry module.
Computer Science:
Mrs Macleod would like to congratulate the following Year 10D students for outstanding work in their Computer Science Network assessments:

7CA students have been working on the main programming concepts using Scratch. In this unit they have been using sequencing, variables, selection, and count-controlled iteration. The class have put great effort into producing programs using different scenarios. Especially, Nadia, Ariana, Analeigh, Jody, Dexter, Emma, Isla, Alfred, Cameron for their consistent hard work and positive attitude to learning.
Year 9 students have been looking at the more common cybercrimes such as hacking, DDoS attacks, and malware, as well as looking at methods to protect ourselves and our networks against these attacks. The following students have shown consistent hard work and positive attitude to their learning:
Olivia, Lubo, Deliana, Oliwia, Fraya, Jasmine, Faith, Sian, Mateus, William, PG, George, Miller, Sarah, Kevin, Vladimir, Vadims, Kyle, Daria and James
Art:
All year 9 Art students have produced images of peppers in a variety of different media.
The work is mounted and annotated to a high standard, in particular Klaudia W has completed an amazing piece, this is picture below.
Sixth Form:
Every term in sixth form we set aside time during the week 8 assembly to celebrate all the wonderful things that have taken place. The focus of the most recent assembly was on what constitutes outstanding attitude to learning and excellent attendance.
Over the last three terms the following students have near perfect attendance, along with the highest scores for attitude to learning. A massive well done to:
Abigail, Cameron BM, Charlie, Daisy, Ellie, Fraser, James H, Remi and Daniils.
Author Visit and World Book Week:
We have also celebrated World Book Week, Year 7 and 8 decorated the doors of their tutor rooms, we will celebrate the winners early next term and will share more photographs with you then, pictured below is the winner for Year 7 and Year 8.

Year 9 English:
Year 9 students are currently studying MacBeth and 9C1 have been nominated by Miss Duncan for their demonstration of their brilliant knowledge and understanding in Macbeth Battleship.
Science:
Year 10 students have been dissecting chicken hearts to learn about how the heart works, pictures below.
Reminders:
- Sessions for Year 11 students will take place during next week, please refer to the letter sent to you recently.
- For Year 11 Engineering students the NCFE Engineering Exam public exam is scheduled to take place during the school holidays and selected students will need to attend school for their exam and must wear full school uniform. Students must arrive in school on Thursday 16th March no later than 8.30am.
- Year 8 Parent/Carer Consultation evening will be held on Tuesday 21st March, a letter outlining the details and how to book appointments will be sent to parents/carers.
