Good morning Panther Families,

Just a reminder that Wednesday November 16th and Thursday November 17th will be early release days for students due to Parent Conferences. Students will be dismissed from school at 12:35. We look forward to seeing you during parent conferences and if there are any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's Team Leader.

We would also like to send a big thank you to all our Veteran's. Thank you for your service.

On Tuesday, November 29th, each grade level will participate in a presentation by Scott Driscoll, President of Internet Safety Concepts. Scott founded Internet Safety Concepts in 2007 with the goal of educating people about online safety through conferences and seminars. Today, Scott presents to both students and families in order to inform individuals on how they can protect themselves from the potential dangers of technology in an ever-increasingly connected world. On Wednesday, November 30th at 6:30 pm, Scott will present the positives, pitfalls, and available resources for parents and guardians on student phone safety related to social media and online digital footprints. This presentation will be held virtually on Zoom.

EHMS students practiced logging in and using the tools embedded on the SBA testing platform this week during ELA class. Students had the opportunity to explore the platform, ask questions, and answer sample questions with support from their teachers.

Students in Mrs. Searles’ 6th grade Math classes have begun Adding and Subtracting Decimals. In this module students will review place value and estimation as way to check if their answer makes sense.

The first PBIS (Positive Behavior Incentive Support) Assembly was held this past Wednesday! Students and staff enjoyed a friendly Music Trivia Competition and raffle prizes!

Here are some highlights that were captured from the day!

Students in Mrs. Michalak's French class were practicing their vocabulary for article of clothing. Students described what a person was wearing in French and their partner had to draw a picture of the description. Des artistes géniaux!

Our EHMS EarlyAct students participated in the Turkey Plunge last weekend to help raise donations for the food bank. Here are some pictures of the event! Mrs. Seeley and Mrs. Berube were there with our EarlyAct students!

Just a reminder that we continue to run Homework Club. Students can join at any point. Facilitated by a staff member, students who are interested can stay after school until 4:00 to have a quiet, structured space to work on school work. There will be times that we collaborate with the high school and students from Interact come to help assist students. The next Homework Club session is Tuesday November 15th and the club will run every other Tuesday after that. If you are interested in your child participating, please complete the following google form. If there are any questions, please contact our main office.

It is hard to believe that we are already talking about your child's transition to East Hampton High School, however, please save the following date - Tuesday, December 6th at 6:30pm, all current 8th grade families are invited to East Hampton High School for an Incoming 9th Grade Curriculum Night.

On Monday, November 7th, representatives from Vinal Technical High School came to speak with our 8th grade students about their high school offerings. They shared information about each of their trades, how the rotation works, sports, clubs and more. If your child is interested in applying to Vinal Technical High School next year, please have them complete the application using the site below. And if you have specific questions for Vinal, please reach out to them.

· DECEMBER: Priority deadline is December 15th.

· February: Initial Notices will be sent out mid-February in email.

Team Diamond will be doing a food drive for the month of November. It will begin November 7th and end November 21st. We prefer boxed goods or plastic containers rather than cans. Some examples would be: macaroni and cheese, cake mix, toilet paper, shampoo, body wash, peanut butter, kleenex, etc. Thank you for your help!

If you have successfully emailed the school, you will receive an autoreply that notifies you that the absence communication has been received and recorded. This process is effective for your child for the first 9 absences. After your student has more than 9 absences, additional documentation or communication is required to excuse the absence. However, please continue to use the email designated for your child's school to continue to notify the school that your child will be absent. You may call your child’s school at any time to report an absence, as well.

We’re having a Book Fair! All purchases through the Book Fair directly benefit students. Students can make purchases at school November 14th - 18th. Purchases may be made online until November 27, 2022. Students will be visiting with their ELA classes and independently throughout the week. An eWallet, prepaid account, may also be set up. Just a reminder, gym excusals will only be accepted if there is a physician or parent note. Physical Education is an important part of growth and development, and students should participate when able.

We are in need of "Warm Weather" Clothing donations for our students. We would happily except sizes Youth 10/12 to Adult sizes.

It is cold and flu season! Just a reminder that we do not carry any cold medications in the health office, so please ensure that students have taken what they need at home before coming to school. Any student with a fever will be sent home and must be fever free for 24 hours prior to their return to school. Students may bring cough drops (for themselves only) to school, if needed. Let’s work together to stay well!
