Husky Howler
November 4, 2022
This Week's Note From Mr. Evan Chelman, Principal
Dear Hill-Roberts Families,
While I sit here thinking about how irregular our schedule will be next week, I can't help but think this week was a doozy as well! The spirit day on Monday was incredible and the Fall activities enjoyed by the students were fun and engaging. The PTO has more of an update regarding the Race for Education below, but we must thank all of the PTO members and families who made the event possible. We look forward to this day each year!
I want to share a bit of data with you regarding our switch from using email as a primary mode of communication to the APP. I have shared 11 Husky Howlers this year. The first 6 averaged 490 views! The last 5 have averaged 206 views. I shared the first 6 via email. I shared the last 5 via the App which goes to the Live Feed on the website and Facebook. I only share this with you because I want to recognize that change is hard. We're doing so well to stay informed for the most important people in our lives...the students!
Let's keep working on it and we'll eventually get that number up. Information is beautiful!
Sincerely,
Evan Chelman, Principal
Gratitude Challenge
For the next few months Hill Roberts will be focusing on Gratitude and social awareness as a community. Giving thanks and appreciating what we have helps to foster more social and self awareness. There will be several school based activities and projects for grade levels to participate in, but we wanted to extend the invite to families.
Gratitude is the simplest way to change one’s perspective of the world. Learning to be grateful helps us appreciate the little things in life that we tend to take for granted. This practice can help to bring about a feeling of satisfaction and hope.
Being grateful does not mean that we need to deny the fact that negative things happen in life; but taking time to focus on the good things can help us to find some peace and appreciation amongst the bitterness and hardship we may be enduring.
There are a lot of ways to teach and show gratitude. Attached is a family activity you can participate in. If you would like to share how you are practicing gratitude in your home, please send photos, or thoughts to Jleach@attleboroschools.com
