South Row's Home Link
Week(s) of: April 11th, 2022 & April 25th, 2022
Message from Mrs. Gilbert & Mr. Ramalho
This home link newsletter covers information for the week of April 11th and April 25th.
This week students reached another goal in our Pride Ticket system. Our school wide reward for students and staff was a dance party Friday afternoon from 2:45 to 3:00. Our dance party was hosted by our own DJ, Mrs. Cooper.
Don't forget to mark your calendars for the International Festival which will take place tomorrow, Saturday, April 9th at South Row from 1-3pm. This is a special event to South Row where we celebrate and appreciate our diversity.
We are excited to announce that our kind act for the month of April will be a canned food drive for the Chelmsford Food Pantry. This drive will begin on Monday, April 11th and will end on Friday, April 29th. The Chelmsford Food Pantry supports many families in our Chelmsford community. We look forward to a successful drive! Any donation would be appreciated if you are able.
We would like to personally wish everyone a wonderful and well deserved April vacation week which begins on Friday, April 15th through Sunday, April 24th. We hope you can take some time to relax, rejuvenate, and spend time with family and friends. When we return, we have lots of learning to still take place along with many fun end of the year events. Get ready for the final stretch!
Respectfully,
Terri and Jayson

April Kind Act: We will be collecting canned food for the Chelmsford Pantry for our Kind Act for the month of April.
Fitness for Cure: Save the date! Our fitness for Cure event (May Kind Act) is coming up on May 5th with a rain date of May 6th. Please click on the link to view the flyer. A hard copy version was sent home in backpacks this week. If you are interested in volunteering please fill out the form on the flyer OR contact Mr. Ramalho (ramalhoj@chelmsford.k12.ma.us) and Mrs. Brown (gambler@chelmsford.k12.ma.us). Student council members will be encouraged to volunteer (if they are able/interested) and details will be forthcoming. We look forward to a successful event!
Movement Challenge: Beginning the week after vacation we will be kicking off a schoolwide movement challenge. This challenge will be focused on physical activity and will be similar to our previous reading and math fact challenges. Students will be sent home a sheet of **** which they can use to record 15 minute blocks of physical activity. Grade levels will each get a different color so we can keep track of minutes and inspire some friendly competition. The grade level with the most minutes will win a reward. This challenge will run through May 20th.

From the Art Room...
Volunteers Needed - Message from Mrs. C - Hi South Row Families! Finally, we can have an all-school South Row Annual Art Show!! On Thursday May 26th there will be an "opening" for families to come and see their student's artwork displayed in the front hallway and the gym here in the school from 6:00-8:00 PM. In order to have 1 piece by each student displayed I will need some volunteers! I have created a sign-up genius for the first step which is to have each student's artwork matted and labeled. I will add the slots for helping in the school to set up at a later date. Thank you in advance for helping make this happen! Love Mrs. C. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0D4CABAA22ABFC1-south.
Nurses Corner
Dear South Row Families,
I hope everyone is having a happy Spring and getting excited for April vacation!
For some of us those blossoming trees and flowers equal itchy eyes and sneezing. If your child develops allergy symptoms such as nasal congestion, sneezing, or cough please conduct a home Covid test just to be sure. While Covid cases are low, they are not zero and the symptoms are easily mistaken for allergies.
If you are interested in receiving free covid tests from the school you can sign up by clicking this link - Student and Staff Opt In/Register for At Home Antigen Testing Program
Claritin and Zyrtec are great over the counter options for allergy relief. Claritin is non-drowsy. Zyrtec may cause some drowsiness so it is best given at night if your child complains of feeling tired while taking the medication. Both medications work for 24 hours. For people with primarily nasal symptoms, Flonase is an effect over the counter nasal spray to combat allergy symptoms.
We continue to see some cases of the stomach bug, but far less than last month. We have had several cases of the flu recently, so please keep that on your radar. If your child has fever, chills, muscle aches, cough, and/or congestion, please check a covid test and consider calling their pediatrician to speak with a nurse to see if your child should be tested for the flu.
I hope everyone has a healthy and fun April vacation!
Warmly,
Nurse V.

Recess Supplies
You all knocked it out of the park when we asked for recess supplies before, and we are back to ask again! Your kids just love the chalk, tennis balls, and jump ropes, but these are the items that easily get lost or are quickly used up. Please visit our Amazon wishlist to help us restock. Thanks in advance!

May PTO Meeting
Please note that our May PTO meeting is being moved to Monday, May 9th. We hope to see you there!
Raffle Basket Donations
Our basket raffle item collection is in full swing! You should have heard from a parent volunteer in your class about your class's basket theme. Please send in your raffle items next week as baskets will be assembled after vacation.
Be On The Lookout...
Watch for the signup form for food donations and helpers for this year's Teacher Appreciation Luncheon coming early next week. We can't leak the secret theme until the staff have all received their invitations!
