Moore MST Magnet School

The background of this week's newsletter suggests the fact that our students have been gaining tools throughout the year. Tools for learning, and tools for life. Some of these tools are general character traits and ethics like hard work and determination. Others are more specific. For example, our teachers have provided all of our students with tricks, diagrams and strategies that will help them remember concepts learned throughout the year. We call it a brain dump. Students are trained to write down all of these helpful tools at the beginning of each upcoming STAAR test. This weekend, we're encouraging parents to ask your children to show you these tools by completing their brain dump at home. Sit with your child for 10 minutes and discuss the meaning of the drawings. You'll be impressed with the tools they've gained. And using them in this way will keep them sharp. Use your tools, Mustangs!

Isaac Mata won two gold medals at the Special Olympics, on Saturday, April 15. He placed first in the 50 meter dash and javelin throw. His 400 meter team also placed 2nd. Isaac loves to run, and his involvement is a great example of how to Run with the HERD!

Congratulations to our THREE-PEAT Champions of the Rose City Book Battle. Students read 5 books and competed with the other middle schools in our district to be the first to answer questions correctly. The team included the following students:

7th grade team captain- Baylen Raney

6th grade captain,- Penny Streufert,

Elkan Ogboli

Alexis Lebrun.

Dorea Holiski, Sebastian Rangel, and Maggie Oxler served as alternates.

Mrs. McPherson and Mrs. Lucas sponsored and coached the team. Thank you, Ladies.

Myron Sinville: 1st 100 Freestyle; 1st 50 Butterfly

Arianna Grijalva: 2nd – 50 breaststroke; 3rd – 100 Individual Medley

These students have placed in the top three in multiple meets. Keep up the good work!
