Two F1S, Carver & Moore, Represented in Palmetto's Finest Program
Two Florence Schools (Carver Magnet Elementary and John W. Moore Middle) were among ten schools in South Carolina named as finalists in the Palmetto's Finest Awards Program.
The selection process includes a comprehensive review of a school's program, focusing on the key question: "What impact is this school making on the lives of students and the community, and is it deserving of the Palmetto's Finest Award?"
The Palmetto's Finest award was announced remotely from SC ETV this week. Faculty, staff and students from both Carver Magnet School and John W. Moore Middle School watched the announcement from their schools via live streaming.
John W. Moore competed in the Middle/High School Category with Batesberg-Leesville High, (Lexington 3); Clover High (York 2 ); North Central High (Kershaw ); and Woodmont High (Greenville). John W. Moore was named Palmetto's Finest in the Middle/High School Category along with Woodmont High School of Greenville. In the Elementary School Category Lake Murray in Lexington 1 and Lake Murray in Lexington-Richland 5 were named.
Carver Elementary Magnet School competed in the Special Schools Category along with Daniel Island (Berkeley) and Southwood Academy of the Arts (Anderson 5). Southwood Academy of the Arts in Anderson emerged as the winner.
"We are extremely proud of the faculty and staff members at both Carver and Moore for putting in the tremendous amount of time and effort that it takes to participate in the Palmetto's Finest selection process," said Dr. Richard O'Malley. "Our hats are off to both schools for representing Florence 1 in such an exemplary manner," he added.
All finalists will receive statewide recognition and a plaque. The winners also receive a "Palmetto's Finest School" banner, bumper stickers for all their staff members, and a Palmetto's Finest ring for the principal. Read more here: https://bit.ly/3ZTysit.
