Winter Break Eagle Newsletter
December 19, 2020 - January 10, 2021
A Message from Principal Neff (12/18/20)
As we have received notice earlier in the week from Superintendent Fawcett (see below), our staff is disheartened that we will not be returning immediately on January 11, 2021 to begin the Spring 2021 Semester. I empathize with many of our students and families that have struggled educationally, emotionally and financially during this pandemic.
Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Boxing Day, or Ōmisoka (to name a few December Holidays), I know one thing is for sure, family is everything. We have learned to rely upon our immediate family, our Eagle family and our adoptive family to make life special and meaningful. Thank you for being a part of my Eagle family! Please take this break to reconnect and recharge.
During the next three weeks, please check your email or the ParentSquare / StudentSquare App (Google Play) to receive immediate notifications and keep abreast of the ever changing information we are receiving. Have a great holiday break! We will see you sometime (hopefully soon) in the new year!
Sincerely,
Mr. Neff

A Message from Paul Fawcett, LMUSD Superintendent
I hope this email finds you and your family safe. As you may recall, on November 17, the decision was made to affix the reopening of our schools for in-person learning to the county’s status remaining in the Red Tier for two weeks. In order to advance back into the Red Tier, the county must meet the Red Tier metrics for two consecutive weeks, which means we must meet the requirements for a total of twenty-eight days. Today (Monday) is twenty-eight days from January 11, 2021 and it is greatly disappointing that based on today’s numbers, we will not be able to reopen to hybrid in-person learning on January 11, 2021. Phase 1 and Phase 2 special education programs and learning pods remain unaffected by this.
Our goal remains the same, to return students to in-person learning in the safest manner possible. In addition to providing the best distance learning experience possible, our staff has been working tirelessly to be ready to return to in-person learning. Classrooms and campuses have been physically restructured, staffing adjustments have been made, bipolar ionization systems have been installed in HVAC units, and procedures have been finalized in preparation for a quick turnaround when opportunity arises. When the rates begin to improve, we will communicate new dates with as much advance notice as possible.
In addition to the recent regional stay-at-home order that does not change the current guidance for schools, the governor’s administration, the State Board of Education and other state entities have released resources, FAQs and additional guidance with more expected to be released later in the week. See below:
- Regional Stay-At-Home Order
- Department of Public Health Guidance
- Cohorting Guidance
- COVID-19 Restriction FAQs
Thank you for your continued patience and support.
Listen to Our Outstanding Wind Ensemble!
AGHS Family,
I just wanted to take a moment to share The AG Wind Ensemble's version of Joy to the World that they just finished recording. The students have been working really hard on this and other recordings as well.
Have a good week and happy holidays!
