Campus notes
Lower Campus
It has been a busy week here at Lower Campus. Students enjoyed Community Circle during which CREST shout-outs were given to Ari Amnetsang, Gabriella Natenael, Buddha Santiago, and Zachary Sieg. We also celebrated 100 days of school.
Mandarin track students continue to prepare for our Lunar New Year celebrations. We look forward to welcoming parents/guardians of Mandarin track students on Friday at 8:45am in the Village Plaza. If you’re attending, please be mindful of 'no parking' zones around campus.
February is Black History Month
Our Black History Month observance will begin on Monday, February 5. PTCC are still looking for 15 more parent/guardian volunteers to decorate classroom doors. If you would like to help, click here to access the SignUpGenius form. This document also provides additional information. The time you spend on this project counts towards your volunteer hours!
Library Work Day
PTCC are looking for volunteers to work with Ms. Stowe as her library assistants on Friday, February 16 to assist with various projects. Volunteer slots are split into two hour durations, however, any amount of time you can afford would be greatly appreciated. Click here to sign up.
Reading activity in 2nd grade
2nd grade Spanish track students read their narrative books to the 1st grade Spanish class. Students read in pairs and then asked their reading partner three questions: What was the book's title? Who were the characters in the book? What was your favorite part of the book and why?
This activity was super fun, and the students were very proud to share their stories with the 1st grade and to be a part of the collaboration with Ms.Gomez and her students to encourage them to write.
The older students set an excellent example for their younger counterparts on how to communicate in the target language. We are thankful to Sra. Tarazona for organizing this fantastic activity and building community.
Upper Campus
Mandarin track students have been busy preparing for Lunar New Year celebrations on Friday. If you are attending, please park at Church in Atlanta, across the road from Upper Campus. We look forward to seeing you! The performance will be recorded and a link shared in next week's weekly newsletter.
The image below shows some of our Mandarin track students writing spring couplets.
Black History Month
Our Black History Month observance will begin on Monday, February 5. We will incorporate this celebration into many different activities throughout the month. We are currently looking for parent/guardian volunteers to assist with decorating classroom doors for the month to fit our theme of “A Timeline through the Arts”. Please click here to access the SignUpGenius if you’re interested. The time you spend on this project counts towards your volunteer hours!

Lost and Found: Please label your items!
Parent volunteers return labeled items to the owner's classroom. If your items are not labeled, they may never make it back home. Please take a moment to find a labeling solution that will work for you. Here are some ideas to get you started: Avery No-Iron Kids Clothing Labels, Sharpie Fabric Marker, and Mabel's Labels (customizable labels and stamps, dishwasher and laundry safe. Enter "The GLOBE Academy" in the "support a fundraiser" field, and they'll donate 20% back to GLOBE!).
Volunteer hours can help GLOBE receive grants
Did you know that when you volunteer, it can help GLOBE receive grants? Some donors want to know how involved the community is. We can show them that parents are invested in the school by sharing the volunteer hours we have tracked. So please remember to log your hours here. When you log your time, you'll also be entered in our drawing for a volunteer-of-the-month carpool flag. As a reminder, each family is requested to volunteer ten hours each year. To see current volunteer opportunities, click here. Thank you for volunteering at GLOBE.
Shopping can help GLOBE!
Did you know when you shop at places like Publix, Kroger, and OfficeMax/Office Depot, they will donate to GLOBE PTCC? To find out how to easily set this up, click here. Every penny counts!
