Message From Our Principal
Dear elementary parents,
As we enter into the two week “freeze” ordered by our Governor we are making some changes to instructional practices in the district. Starting Monday, November 30th all limited in person instruction will be suspended until January 5th. Students will receive their services for instruction virtually in a comprehensive distance learning model until that time. This has been an extremely challenging time for all of our students and we understand that this creates additional stress but due to the current covid rates in St Paul and Marion county this is a necessary step in order to keep everyone safe.
Packet pickup for the elementary school will take place Monday, November 23rd from 8-10 a.m. in the morning and virtual parent teacher conferences will take place Monday, November 23rd and Tuesday, November 24th. Conferences are optional if you are not notified of a conference time by the end of the day Thursday, November 19th and would like to schedule a virtual conference with your child’s teacher, please contact the elementary office.
During this pause in in-person instruction, please help support your child’s learning by following the guidance provided below. Have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving, please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Students:
● Attend digital learning daily
● Login for assignments daily
● Inform the teacher and office prior to absences
● Inform the teacher for partial absences
● Participate in all activities
● Be dressed and groomed for school
● Have supplies ready for learning each day
● Always be respectful to others
Parents:
● Set up learning station for your child (small desk/table, small chair, lamp, a place to keep supplies away from siblings)
● TV, Radio, other devices are turned off to provide a space free of distractions
● Help your child login daily until they are able to do so independently
● Show a positive attitude and praise your child every day for at least 5 things you noticed
● Help your child be ready for school by sticking to a schedule
● Monitor learning and hold your child accountable for doing his/her best work
● During break times, plan to engage in some wiggle time with your child
● Communicate with your child, your child’s teacher, and other adults at the school to solve problems early
● It is important that your child is responsible for completing their own school work, please help them by teaching responsibility through taking ownership of their own learning.
● Praise, encourage, praise some more...and repeat!
Sincerely,
Joseph Wehrli
