Eastridge's Weekly Update for Students and Caregivers
Week of January 4, 2021
Welcome Back Edition!
Hello Eastridge Families, this is Mrs. Johnson, proud principal of Eastridge Elementary School. This is your Sunday Evening Update for the week of January 4th, 2021.
Welcome back and Happy New Year! We hope you and your loved ones enjoyed some quality time off during the holiday season. As we begin second semester tomorrow, January 4, 2021 I would like to share a 5 important points with you:
Reminder of 2nd Semester Schedule
Just a reminder that due to our Marion County and local COVID-19 data, we will begin the second semester in the VIRTUAL model. All Warren students will return to their VIRTUAL classrooms on Monday, January 4th. K-5 students will remain VIRTUAL until Friday, January 15th with a return to IN-PERSON or 100% VIRTUAL on Tuesday, January 19th.
K-5 Learning Option Change Form
Families with students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade can now request their second semester learning model choice, IN-PERSON or 100% VIRTUAL. The request forms are linked on our school’s website and will be available until Friday, January 8th at 3:00 PM. To create a consistent experience as possible for our students and families, this will be the last opportunity to request a change for the 2020-21 school year. We will not accept requests once the request window closes.
Food Distribution
Starting next week, food distributions will go back to Tuesdays and Fridays from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Moorhead Community Resource Center, Warren Central High School, Creston, Raymond Park, and Stonybrook Intermediate Middle Schools. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chartwells and all of the volunteers that have been a part of these. Please be on the lookout for some short fun videos that will accompany the food menus being distributed.
Second Semester Material Pickup
Since we are starting a new semester, students and families may need to pick up new materials. Classroom teachers will inform you if your student needs to pick up additional material.
All material can be picked up between the hours of 8:30am - 3:00pm. Please park in the front parking lot and enter the building through door 1 (main entrance). If you are in a hurry feel free to call us at (317) 532-3150. We will have your materials ready when you arrive.
Wida Testing
K-4 - WIDA testing will begin on January 11, 2020 for all identified English Learner students. Kindergarten families will be contacted to bring their students into school for testing during the week of January 11, 2020. 1st - 4th students will begin testing the week of January 18th when they return to in-person instruction. If your child’s learning environment is virtual, you will be contacted to arrange a date for testing. You can bring your child to school on their designated testing date or your school can arrange transportation. Please complete this form if your child will require transportation. Please note that if your child will be using bus transportation, they will remain at school for the entire day. If you have questions, please contact Lauren Cooper.
Thank you for your support and engagement as we continue our virtual format. Safety and the health of our students and staff are top priority. We will continue with our first semester mitigation plan and adjust when necessary.
I’m very proud of our students for being resilient! We will continue to lead and educate our students with grace and the understanding that unfamiliar situations and obstacles are something they are dealing with daily. Caregivers, we thank you for your partnership!
Please reach out to your students’ teacher, school counselor, or administration team if you have any questions or need assistance. We are here to help in any way possible.
As always, thank you for your support!
