Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
At Jefferson School, we believe that every child in every classroom can and will achieve success. One way we can ensure academic success is to continue the learning at home. Research shows that practice is important for anyone to achieve success! Education is no different. We would like the learning that is taking place in the classroom to continue at home through practice.
Following the 5 Keys to Success is a wonderful way for our families to help and support their children at home.
1. Completing Homework.
2. Practicing High Frequency Words.
3. Read their Library Leveled Book.
4. Log into Lexia. (it’s free!)
5. Practice Math Facts.
Completing these 5 Keys to Success will promote academic success at Jefferson Elementary School. Thanks to your generosity, our PTA will provide our students with Monthly and Trimester Rewards to help motivate our students!

SMART PASS at Jefferson
Dear Jefferson Parents,
At Jefferson in grades 3rd-5th, we will begin using the digital hall pass system SmartPass. SmartPass is a digital hall pass system that replaces traditional hall passes such as sign-out sheets, wooden blocks, passbooks, and lanyards.
It provides administrators and teachers an accounting of which students are outside of the classroom during the school day. In case of emergencies such as fires, severe weather, or building intruders, administrators and teachers have real-time access to this critical information. Overall, the past history of a student will lead to more effective and informative parent-teacher conferences, as well as ensuring students are where they should be - in the classroom learning.
During COVID-19, it helps our school go contact-free by eliminating common touch surfaces such as wooden blocks, shared paper sign-out sheets, pencils, etc. It also can automatically limit the number of students in the bathroom with minimal intrusion to class instruction. Plus, it can perform contact tracing to get a list of students that were in the room at the same time as another student.
For more information, please visit the vendor’s website at www.smartpass.app.

Dear Jefferson Parents and Families:
The safety of our school community is important to us. Please find below the information regarding the implementation of a Door Buzzer that will be used by the Jefferson office staff for all visitors.

Attendance : Every Day, All Day, and On Time!
Dear Parent and Caregivers:
At Jefferson Elementary staff has exciting plans and high expectations for your child’s learning. I know that you also have many hopes and dreams for your child’s success in school and beyond.
To make sure those hopes and dreams are realized, I want to ask for your commitment to making sure your child attends school every day possible this year. The evidence is clear: children with good attendance are more likely to be successful in school. High attendance rates are linked to high student achievement.
The more you are in school, the more you learn.
The more you learn, the higher your grades will be.
The better your grades, the more you will enjoy school.
The longer you stay in school, the more likely you are to succeed in career and life.
Regular, on-time school attendance is a goal that can only be achieved with the cooperation of both parent and child. Absences contribute to lost learning. Parents should make every effort to schedule family events and appointments during non-school hours.
When absences are necessary, parents should send a note when the child returns. Please be specific in regards to the reason for the absence. (COVID, FEVER, DIARRHEA)
EXAMPLE: Please excuse my child John Doe for missing school on January 12, 2023 due to illness, doctor appointment, family emergency etc. (Please include your signature)
*It is very important that you send your child a note upon his/her return.*
I am asking for your support in helping your child get to school on time at 8:13 a.m. every day. Remember that breakfast is a great way to start the day and it’s FREE to everyone! Breakfast is served daily in the school cafeteria 7:45am to 8:05am. Your child needs to be in school and engaged in learning to reach his or her full potential. Yet, we realize that every family faces challenges. Please let me or your child’s teacher know if your family needs help dealing with a challenge to your child’s good school attendance. We will do our best to help you and your family ensure that your child’s school attendance stays on track.
Thank you for all you do to support your child’s school success and well being, as well as our school. I look forward to working with you this year and to having your child learn and grow at Jefferson Elementary!
