Curtis Chronicles
October 26, 2021
Hello from Curtis Principal, Sonya Pitcock
Cougar families,
Thank you so much for the support with treats for our staff. Every month our staff shares how wonderful our PTA treats us with friends from other schools and districts and they are so jealous! Thanks for helping us so much!
We have finished our first quarter of instruction and are proud of where our students are already showing growth. Many teachers gave out awards in their classes for the first quarter and we appreciate PTA supporting our Citizenship awards too!
This week we are participating in Red Ribbon Week with dress up days, lessons through Tracks and an assembly for each grade level. Here are the dress up days for Curtis:
- Tuesday – “Say Aloha to a Drug-free Life” – Wear Hawaiian clothes and leis
- Wednesday – “Kick Drugs to the Past” – Dress the decades – 70s, 80s, 90s
- Thursday – “Team Up Against Drugs and Vaping” – Wear sports jerseys and team shirts
- Friday – “Cover the World in RED” – Wear your Curtis Cougar Red!
Thanks to PTA we will have Red Ribbon Week assemblies for our students to hear an impactful message (with some fun mixed in) of making choices to live life to the fullest and avoiding drugs and alcohol that can limit dreams and cause set backs in life.
Friday is our first dance of the year and we are excited to see your students at the dance. Students must be Curtis students, be in dress code and have an ID to enter the dance. Tickets will be sold this week before school for $5.00 to attend the dance. Tickets will be sold at the door for a higher price. Students will be able to dance, hang out with friends, play basketball in the gym, eat snacks and treats and just relax! We always have a great time and we would like to invite parents to join us as chaperones if you are free. The dance is from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM and we ask for prompt pick up after the dance.
We are excited to announce that the district will be launching the Parent Portal the first week of November. Be looking for an email from Allen ISD with details about claiming that portal account.
Sincerely,
Sonya Pitcock
Principal, Curtis Middle School
