Corbett Grade School
August 2022 - Back to School Edition
Corbett Grade School Principal, Michelle Dawkins
Dear Families,
We are counting down the days until we begin the 2022-23 school year. Our staff has been working throughout the summer supporting students during summer enrichment, preparing their classrooms, making updates to our facilities, and attending professional development.
While this seems to be a more typical school year, we will still maintain some routines that we developed over the past two years. We will continue to drop off and pick up in our Zone 1 and Zone 2. Students on the north side of our building will enter and exit their exterior doors for arrival and departures. All exterior doors will be locked at 8am until dismissal at 3:35pm. All visitors will need to check in at the grade school front office. The care and safety of our students is our top priority. We appreciate your understanding and help in securing our building.

Arrival and Dismissal Information
Zone 1
- ALL K/1 classrooms
- Mrs. Arndt, Ms. Karki, and Mrs. Lewis
Zone 2
- ALL 4/5 classrooms
- Mrs. Mack and Ms. Layton
If that sibling is a fourth or fifth grade student, please do not arrive until 3:40pm or later.
Drop off begins at 7:40am (not earlier)
End time for K-3 classrooms: 3:35pm
End time for 4/5 classrooms: 3:40pm
The times are staggered to help with traffic flow. Families with students in a fourth or fifth grade classroom should not join the pick up line before 3:40pm. If you arrive prior to 3:40pm in the pick up line, you will be asked to circle around until the 4/5 classes have been dismissed.
Things to help improve the flow of traffic:
- Practice getting your child in and out of their car seat
- Please remain in your car for drop off and pick up
- Pull over to the waiting area, if you need to buckle or unbuckle your child
- Arrive no more than five minutes prior to your student's dismissal time
Please keep in mind that the first week of school will be busy and will take longer than normal.

School Supplies
We ask our families to supply a refillable water bottle and a backpack for their child(ren) attending Corbett Grade School. Please let the grade school office if your child needs a backpack or refillable water bottle.

Playground Upgrades
This year our goal is to fund raise, order, and install some new playground equipment for our east and west playgrounds. Last year, a committee of parents researched, designed, and selected the changes that would be made to our playgrounds.
Our next step is to raise the money to purchase the equipment and the materials needed to install the new equipment. The cost of the playground equipment is about $45,000. Additionally, we will need concrete, surface mats, and possibly some asphalt.
The upgrade can only happen with the help of our school community. Please complete this form to let us know how you would like to help us with this project.
