The Vocal Power Class completed their Jazz unit, mastering how to syncopate, scoop, slide, and scat a song. Both of the Music Theater Workshop classes started rehearsals, blocking and choreographing! Some of the students have already memorized their first scenes. The Eighth Grade MTW chose Legally Blonde Jr and the Seventh Grade MTW, Matilda Jr! There are so many talented singers and actors in these classes! Sixth Graders continued the Melody unit this week, playing melodies on the bell sets, boomwhackers, and soprano recorders!

To promote our middle school choral and musical programs, Emerson and Lincoln will be combining to publicize and fundraise for our choruses and musicals. Specifically we hope to:

• Provide each choral student with their music t-shirt
• Subsidize each choral music student's participation in Music in the Parks
• Purchase additional Light and Sound Equipment for the musicals

As a staff, we were upset by the increase in choral fees from $20 to $40. We realize that our sixth grade families are now paying 8 times what they paid last year. With the support of our families, we would like to reach out to our community to help minimize the impact of the increases. So many of our students participate in multiple groups, and we hope that will continue to happen!

7/8 Singers meets on Thursdays from 3:00 - 4:00

For all members who will be participating in Cross Country, Basketball, or another conflicting Fall activity, there is a morning version from 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. on Fridays before school!

The first rehearsal was FANTASTIC!

Show Choir meets every Friday after school during the first and third trimesters! Our Show Choir performs throughout the Chicagoland area and competes in the annual Music in the Parks festival!

Only 32 of the 60 scripts have been returned! Any cast member who does not return their script will not be eligible for a script next year.

In the past, Leads have written a note to the next person to play their role. They give advice on how to portray the character, handle performance jitters, and reminisce about their favorite moment. Keep the tradition going!
