State FFA Degree

Congratulations to Joey Robinson who was recognized with the State FFA Degree, the highest degree the State association can bestow. The member must have taken two years of agricultural education and been an active member for two years. The member must have invested $2500 or worked 1500 hours in their SAE area and have completed their State FFA Degree application and have been accepted at the State level. Great job!

FFA Star Awards

Congratulations to Joey Robinson on placing 3rd in the Wisconsin Star Farmer contest and 5th in the Wisconsin Star Agricultural Placement contest! The Star Farmer and Star Agricultural Placement are the highest honor the Wisconsin State FFA Association can bestow on its members based on their Supervised Agricultural Experience. The process to become a finalist involves a long application, a set of interviews, and many hours of SAE work. Way to go, Joey!

State FFA Delegate

Ella James was the delegate for Mineral Point FFA at the State FFA convention last week. She was involved in electing our new Section Four State FFA officer. Thanks, Ella!

McGraw to Lead Middle School

We would like to introduce a familiar face as our #PointerNation 6-12 Assistant Principal with Middle School Focus. Congrats to Brooke McGraw on her hiring by the School Board Monday night! Mrs. McGraw has been employed with the District since 2017, serving in various roles as a Kindergarten Teacher, 1st Grade Teacher, District Instructional Coach, and Middle School Interventionist.

Brooke earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with an Inclusion Minor in Special Education from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 2007. In 2011, she earned her Master of Science in Educational Administration, also from UW-Platteville. From Edgewood College, she obtained an Instructional Coaching Certification. She is a Mineral Point native and graduate of MPHS.

Her family includes husband, Bret (MP Middle School Social Studies Teacher), and children Mira and Oakley.

"I am excited for this new opportunity and look forward to continuing to work with the students and staff at Mineral Point Middle School," she said. "My goal is to continue to form positive connections and build on the many wonderful aspects we have going on at Mineral Point Middle School."

Board Votes for Scott Schmitz Community Gym

At its regular monthly June meeting, the School Board agreed to approve a request naming the middle/high school gymnasium in honor of Scott Schmitz, longtime physical education teacher and head wrestling coach (he has also been an assistant golf and volleyball coach through the years). Badger Boys State

Badger Boys State is a week-long summer camp for Wisconsin's top incoming Seniors to learn more about how government is run and how to be a better leader. This year's #PointerNation representatives are Charles DaVee and Derek Hottenstein who spent last week at UW-Eau Claire. Thank you to the American Legion for sponsoring!

T-Shirt Design Winner

Kudos to Kadence Leigh! She submitted a t-shirt design and hers was selected for all participants of The Community Wellness Mental Health Summit to receive. Thanks to Southwest Wisconsin Behavioral Health Partnership for sponsoring the contest!
