Nurse News
"Important Reminders From the ECG Clinic
Medications-Any medication that is to be given at school must be brought to the nurse by a parent/guardian and must be accompanied by a medication authorization form signed by a professional licensed medical provider. This includes OTC meds such as ibuprofen, Tylenol, cough medications, etc., This form can be found athttps://www.lcsedu.net/parents/forms. Prescription medications must be in the original container with label (ask pharmacist for a school bottle with a label) and OTC medications must be in a new and unopened bottle. All medications are required to be counted in by the nurse in the presence of the parent/guardian and then signed by both the parent/guardian and the nurse. All medications except emergency medication (epi pen, inhalers, insulin) are required to be kept in the clinic.
Early Dismissals- Early dismissals from the clinic are not automatically excused. If, in my clinical opinion, a student MUST leave school due to illness or injury, I (the nurse) will contact a parent/guardian directly and make that request. Any request made by a student to leave early through the clinic is a decision between the student and a parent/guardian. I am more than happy to speak with parent/guardian to answer any questions.
Immunizations-All students must be in compliance with the Va Department of Education immunization requirements. Students found out of compliance will be notified and given a time frame within which immunizations must be brought up to date. After that time, the student will not be allowed to attend school until documentation of all required immunizations has been received.
I am looking forward to a successful and healthy school year! Please contact me directly with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Kristy D. Campbell, RN

Attendance
Cellphone Policy 2019-20
Cell Phone Policy 2019-20
Procedure for cell phones and headphones for the 2019-2020 school year:
Cell phones will be silent and out of sight in instructional zones.
Wired headphones will only be permitted in instructional zones when connected to a Chromebook and is a requirement to fulfill an assignment where sound is required. Wireless headphones will not be permitted in instructional zones.
The following steps will be followed in instructional zones for students who use their cell phones and/or wireless headphones OR use their wired headphones in a way that is not outlined in the procedure:
1st offense: Student gives phone/headphones to teacher/staff member; parent contact is made; student receives phone/headphones back at the end of the day.
2nd offense: Student gives phone/headphones to teacher/staff member; parent contact is made; parent/guardian picks up phone/headphones from the school.
3rd offense: Student gives phone/headphones to teacher/staff member; student is assigned AIA; parent/guardian picks up phone/headphones from the school.
Rationale:
We want all of our students to “be here” both physically and mentally. Cell phone use during instructional time is a distraction and creates an environment that is not conducive to learning.
We want to teach students that there are times when cell phone use is not appropriate.
We want students to practice communicating with others face to face.
