A MESSAGE FROM OUR SCHOOL PRINCIPAL:

Every year we join in celebrating Dr. Seuss birthday celebration designed to encourage reading as a fun activity for the whole school. Reading, and understanding what you read, is a skill that everyone needs to be successful. The best way to improve understanding is to read a lot. There is nothing like a challenging book to lift you up or take you to another world. Developing a love of reading will be an asset to your child in all areas of school and give him/her a jumpstart to a lifetime of reading!

Here are some literacy dates that we hope you will plan to attend and participate:

February 25-March 1 Dr. Seuss week-long birthday celebration

March 4-8 Spring Book Fair

March 21 Literacy Pontiac Family Night at Richland County Public Library in Sandhills

Middle School Music Programs

All of our 5th grade students were recently visited by band, chorus, and orchestra students from Summit Parkway Middle School. Each ensemble performed for our students, the directors introduced their middle school programs, and our students asked any questions they had concerning the middle school music classes. If your 5th grade child is interested in participating in band, chorus, or orchestra and will be attending a Richland Two middle school next year, the district is asking you to indicate that interest by completing an online registration form by March 31st. You can access the form as follows:

I have a limited number of paper brochures only available for those with no internet access. Please have your child come by my music room to pick one up if this applies to your situation and you would like to register your child for a middle school music program.
