Notes from the School Nurse
Hello Parents/Guardians!
As we are now into cold/flu season and also still dealing with COVID-19, this note serves as a gentle reminder regarding a few things related to student health.
WHEN TO KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME FROM SCHOOL
1. Sick children need to be kept home from school; to include excessive coughing, sore throat, runny nose/congestion, vomiting, and/or high body temperatures (fever). Resting at home will help them get better more quickly and will prevent them from exposing other children or the staff to their illness.
2. For additional information and/or questions regarding when to keep your child home from school please visit the link below:

ELA: We completed our unit 3 Assessment this week and will be starting on Unit 4 next week. We will recognize that sentences are composed of words; separated by spaces, recognize word boundaries, and evaluate details to determine what is important in a sentence or story.
Math: We completed our topic 12 math assessment and will begin on topic 13 next week. We are continuing to learn about two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes. We will use a variety of shape manipulatives, as well as identifying shapes that we see in our environment. We will analyze and compare two-dimensional (2-D) shapes. We will use clues to help identify different types of shapes by the number of sides, and identify shapes that have no sides or corners (vertices).
Science:We will talk about the needs of people: What are some ways we meet our needs? We will also compare the needs of people and animals, how are they the same?
Social Studies:We will continue to learn and identify how we keep track of time. We discuss schedules, clocks, and the use of calendars. Students will understand how we keep track of time through the seasons.
Health: Our topic will be about “Being Assertive” speaking with confidence and respect. We will identify situations in which it is appropriate or inappropriate to speak up and voice your opinion. Questions that will be discussed; Have you had a great idea that you wanted to tell someone? What did you do? What would you do if that person did not want to listen? What if they were busy at that particular time.
Friendly reminder: Class dojo is one of our main forms of communication for any classroom activities, events, and messages. Please make sure that you are connected to your scholar’s Class dojo. Teacher emails and the communication folder are other ways to stay connected as well.
