Spotlight on EMIS Teamwork!
Rather than highlighting individuals this year, we wanted to honor the hard work our teams are doing! Periodically, we will highlight the team work of a PLC and treat them to lunch!
An interview with 4th Math:
Team Celebrations?
"Flexibility and Focus-No one is afraid to try new things-Communicate all the time. Everyone pulls their weight and contributes-Organized-A great PLC leader who helps keep them on track:)"
Team Challenges?
"Have had to constantly revamp instruction - amount of work given, how it is delivered, etc. WE brainstorm as a team and come up with a plan!!!"
Men in the Making & Women in the Making
Why?
-Address specific trends in discipline data
-Provide additional layer of support to students in need.
-Prepare students with life skills, confidence and character.
What are the details?
Men in the Making (aka Gentleman in the Gym)
-Led by Coach Harris and Mr. Keys
-Data tells us we have issue with impulse control and opportunities for young men to take a deep breath and think like a gentleman.
-8:20-8:40 each Friday in the gym.
-Data trends shows greatest need for 4th and 5th boys but open to a select group of 6th boys that can also serve as peer leads.
-Data & history tells us we have significant need with group of 6th grade girls.
-Academic need patterns were very similar so we will offer an Eagle Time session (led by Meghan/Tara) with Women in the Making themes paired with math and reading intervention work.
What can you do?
-Review the programs so you are aware of what will be covered.
-Use this referral form to recommend students
-4th and 5th grade teachers, please reach out to me if you would like to serve as a mentor to one of our 6th grade girls as that is an immediate need.
What's next?
-Collect recommendations, notify parents and pair mentors.
-Clubs estimated to begin at the start of Quarter 2.
