4th Grade Science with Mr. McIntosh
Looking Back -
We learned about the basics of electrical charges in objects as we examined static electricity. Understanding electricity that doesn’t move is a good place to start exploring electricity that does move in currents. (See Looking Ahead)
Looking Ahead –
Since we have established an idea of how objects can become electrically charged, now let’s examine what we can do with those charges. We will discuss how electric current moves in wires and how circuits are designed and used. We will also discover why certain types of materials are much better to use in electrical circuits.
Extra Credit is available in USA Test Prep. Check it out!
There are short science articles linked in USA Test Prep with some short essay questions to explore your thinking about the topics. Complete these optional assignments for a boost to your grade.Continue to devote one hour (or two 30 minute sessions) to Stride Science lessons each week.
Science News for the Week: We’ve been discussing forces and inertia in 5th grade physics. One of my favorite tricks that demonstrates motion and force is the amazing way that dominos can create a chain reaction with other dominos (or other objects). Check out this insane video of physics at work.
